Container is worthless
I have container 100lb one and I put in 13 clay and 2 large rocks and it's filled... Only 2 slots used and its filled. Really? what a waste. If you want to store anything you'll need 100's of Containers. smh.

Containers are not limited by slots, you can have 100 items in the smallest one. Storage is limited by WEIGHT. Clay weighs 6 each, and those stones weigh 8. There's your problem.

I know that. My point is this... Here I'll give 100 Clay.... Now go build 7 Large containers and put them somewhere to store 100 clay. Good Luck finding a place to walk as those containers are VERY Large. Good Luck storing large stones... LOL See my point?

Containers are limited by the weight of its content, which means that if you put heavy things in them they won't hold much, instead they are absolutely awesome for all the small and light stuff which can be hard to see on the ground, you can literally put hundreds of such stuff in them, and as far as I know I haven't run into a slot limit, I think this is the better way for storage than having a set amount of slots available :)

There's only one recipe that I know of that needs large stones and it needs 2. What are you going to do with 100 large stones? This isn't a stockpiling/hoarding game like valheim or Ark. Just use what you have.

I find that it is a stockpiling game. Nothing worse than discovering a new recipe and having to stop what you are doing to go looking for a massive stone. This includes things like repairing your tools to complete a crafting.

For this reason, once you get the cart it is a good idea to pick up rare items like big branches, liana, massive stones, obsidian etc when you are out exploring and bring them back to base. Bring the resources back before they are needed (within reason) and you will have a smoother experience moving through the tech tree.

Just dump these items in their own separate piles in a stockpile area. It's annoying if you're OCD and wish for neat storage, but it saves on container space.

Making storage is relatively cheap, so I don't see the problem and I assume as more content gets added, new storage will be included.

Would be nice if for heavy items we could build a storage area as opposed to a storage container. Some games do this. A limit would still be necessary though. Something like 30 big stones, and then you would have build another one. And for logs also. A place I can stack logs to save them for later like SOTF. I also like to have a backup of certain hard to obtain materials. I do not consider it hoarding, more like prepping.

Have you considered just using multiple carts?
Soma Apr 22, 2023 @ 6:30pm
I have done that in other games. To be honest I have not come to the point yet in this game that it is a problem. I am sure when the time comes carts will be a good option. Thanks for the reminder!

We'll think of some special storages for heavy resources, thanks for pointing this out!

Logholder, stoneholders, holders for various other sticks and branches, that would be absolutely great at some point, not a big thing, but it does add to immersion and will make a base cleaner, especially for hoarders lol

I tend to just toss all the heavy stuff on the floor in sorted piles. I don't think it disappears. I would do this in real life. I think the developer is really trying to keep this game as realistic as possible. It does need some tweaking or polishing as expected. With as many options as there are for crafting you need to collect a lot so it's available as needed. I think the storage issue will be corrected or made better. Hopefully it's kinda like Green Hell did it with all the stone and wood storage options. That was a good idea! This game is similar in most of the survival aspects of that game but also unique too.

I thought I read somewhere things despawn after a certain time. If this is not true then I am fine just having piles of most everything lol. Can anyone confirm for example if I bring a Big stone back to camp and throw it on the ground how long it will stay there?

Can confirm: it will stay there for as long as you need it! =)
Resources are fine, food may (and will) spoil though.

Thanks! That will save me so much time knowing I can leave marked piles of resources around the map!
