Puma region Iron Island base.

Just started the Puma region and it looks pretty inhospitable. Anyone have any suggestions on where to set up a base on or around Iron Island. Fog island is out, place sucks. Thanks.

Just have a dock for your ship and travel. That’s what I do

I agree that having anything more than a dock is probably unnecessary, but to answer your question, there is a spot on Iron Island where I have my dock and believe would make a good place for a base. It is located on the south-east side of the island (if I recall correctly). There is a barely noticeable cave opening leading to the sea that opens into a wide sheltered area. There is a great cat in the area but it doesn't respawn. The cave/cove leading to the ocean is kind of narrow, and it can be difficult to build a dock there that will fit a schooner, but it's the best place I've found in the Puma Region.

I don't know if you're citing the same location that I use. My build of choice is opposite the island from the broken down dock w/ Puma Temple/iron mining to the L and straight ahead. There is a beach w/ a puma & orange trees. You can make a house by the ever-burning brazier on a small rock cliff.

From there you headacross the area w/ upside down hung skeletons and look L for the Puma Temple.

It's the same location, yes. We specifically made that puma not respawn, so you can build a base there without having to fight it again and again. =)

Built a house and a dock at the East North East Scrap of Land with the fishing spot and fast travel to all islands via docks placed there as well.

It's the same location, yes. We specifically made that puma not respawn, so you can build a base there without having to fight it again and again. =)

The sounding Islands looks very good. I have plans for there'
The little nook on the SE part of the island has a tanner and some drying racks .I thought about it for a while

Just did the dock there. good spot. bit of a trek for the iron ore but worth it. thanks for the advice.
