Something like:
>resource marker no longer appears on the map
>no more regeneration on most resources
>medicine increases recovery chance instead of instant cure
>armor only increasing timer instead of giving full immunity
I would also much prefer more challenging mechanics, though the inflated numbers seem like an easy first step at this stage of development.
No resource markers is a nice one, a mental challenge.
I agree that some of the resources could do with a pretty significant nerf to regen speeds (As much as I appreciate you delicious date juice.) I had considered some animal resource, possibly others, only regenerating if conditions are kept right i.e. Leave eggs to get more birds, 2 small boars/crabs left alive to spawn more etc.
Agreed that the insta-cure in medicine does make afflictions fairly risk free once you get established. I like the concept that it boosts you into more likely to improve, but no guarantees it won't worsen.
Nice idea with the armour, keeps the elements as a meaningful longterm issue.
I'm a fan of perma-death with no lives too, whilst I didn't understand what the 'fainting' setting meant when starting, I haven't fainted in my current game and intend to treat a faint as permadeath. I would still like much more of a 'threat' of that death looming over me longterm.
If you chose one faint option, then it's indeed permadeath.
