Mine Ore's respawn

I have cleared the copper and obsidian mines I understand the respawn timer but on respawn the max ores I can get is 2 per cave. Why with long respawn timers and 2 ores that means the max copper bars I can create is 3 copper. So now I am using stone tools after all this time in game because there is not enough copper ores respawning to repair my cooper tools, not to mention copper bars for upgrades. so my pickaxe, knife, spear, axe and hammer, harpoon are sitting in a stroage box waiting for approximately 40 days of respawn. I have found only 3 copper and 4 obsidian caves between both maps. I want to explore and build and understand the long respawn timer on animals and fruits, but ores.

It's alright, you can just go back to obsidian at any time and it's not like the game is forcing you to always have the best material like in minecraft
