now try survival without marian !
Survival with other characters is also too easy. Especially since enemies rising off the ground do not protect themselves from power attacks, special attacks, or melee/thrown weapons. I made it to wave 45 and quit out of sheer boredom using Billy and Jimmy.
You have to die to earn the tokens...this is a fkn shthole of a game...2hr wasted in a fkn mode for nothing...gg!
Marion was hardest for me to keep alive for setup I think due to slower recoveries, but she does become way more easy mode than most characters after some upgrades, especially landing recovery and movement boosts.
Anyone with a suction neutral like blonde brothers kick and double nunchuck guy
Etc
The fact you need to chain special a to be or c EXCEPT if you do an air special and not everyone has an air special sucks too.
Its just a very poorly thought out system.
Survival is also not worth playing because the payout for time invested is absolutely pathetic. You can gain far more doing story with it set to hardest settings (which is still easy because of all the guaranteed hp drops from this stupid system). Don't even need to finish the game. One or two areas in on the hardest difficulty and you've probably made enough to afford any given 25 token character, which is the max cost of all but 1 character. Faster to just quit then, then do those first 2 areas again. Probably faster to just do 1. The stages become much longer if chose later for no real upside.
Makes unlocking characters feel pointless since any given character is going to boil down to finding their most spammable aoe move and just doing that constantly. Basic moves only serve to fill time between aoe spam because the damage disparity is so high, but a lot of the times enemies drop blue orbs which instantly fill meter, so it doesn't even matter.
Depends on how much you need to unlock. A single run in Survival should get you something like 200 coins very quickly. After I think level 20 you're at the max 500:1 exchange rate and should be sitting around 30000 bucks, so 60 coins. With about a minute per level, that's 60 coins in 20 minutes... and it just gets faster when all you need is turkeys. By level 50 I'd looped the meter, meaning 200 coins.
I haven't timed myself bull rushing a level, but all the extra time navigating instead of killing mobs, which never spawn in as many as in survival mode, means less money per minute almost certainly.
Definitely agree it's too easy regardless. I asked in the release announcement for their next update to focus on upping difficulty overall... adding more pips to the right of the most difficult, and probably a few more things to adjust, such as needing more crowd control kills to trigger the effects and food on top of more bodies and more actual aggression. I can't even tell what the difference is on the aggression levels as is... but I want old school dudes on both sides and as soon as you press a button the dude on the other side is swinging. The slow drop-ins is kind of a killer too. Gimme a ton of dudes just raining down for complete chaos, maintain 16 dudes on screen instead of giving me waves or something.
Enemies being more aggresive seems to just make them come at you faster so you can 1 shot them en masse faster.
Imo this game is just unfixable as far as balance goes. Specials are too strong compared to basic moves and the fact the bar goes grey and needs to fill to max to be used again UNLESS you spam specials or switch means the game actively refuses to let you do anything except spam.
Basic attacks are pathetic in comparison and they don't count as 'special kills' no matter what you do with them so you're basically enforced both by health drops AND the "kill 50 dudes with specials" etc missions to only use them to fill the blue bar.
Everything about this games design boils down to spamming specials in the most boring way possible and its a shame. You can juggle enemies, bounce them off walls, throw them at each other, etc, but these are all pointless, weak or both. But pressing 1 button will kill like 7 dudes. + fully heal you / give like 50 cash if you're already at max hp
I genuinely don't understand how they designed the game like it is and no one on the team thought "wow this is stupid" at any point
Yeah, actually, I played again last night to verify and at level 15, you're at 500 per token and should be around 20k money. Just regular bonuses get you another 1000 per level, on top of food bonuses and special kills.
Regular attacks are actually better in some scenarios. Generally speaking, they actually do more damage if you carry a dude through a full combo, and, of course, you can dash cancel juggle them and use whatever OTG tech to stop em from doing anything. You can kill most bosses this way much easier than getting their opening and throwing a special. A couple bosses don't care (final form Anubis, Mayor off the top of my head) but the rest die easy to that. And... certain specials kinda need the regular attack chain to go off. Abobo's power bomb and Jimmy's dragon fang or whatever the jumping piledriver is are both chained from the knockback, and both of em are probably their widest area attack moves. Plus, if you kill with regular attack but still affect with the special or a dynamite/weapon/whatever hits the corpse, you get the special kill credit.
There are definitely things that can be done to make it more balanced, but yeah, think it would need to be a pretty massive update that lies entirely in the difficulty sliders. Sorta like Shredder's Revenge, any experienced beat em up person is gonna just smoke the game. I do at least enjoy the character variety in this one, whereas Shredder's Revenge was all about the dive kick/rising attack spam over and over.
Don't agree that an update to fix this owuld "lie entirely in the difficulty sliders" though. You could give the enemies 8x the hp and make them run at me 3x as fast and I'm still just going to repeatedly juggle them until blue bar is full, spam specials and repeat. Its still going to be easy. They rarely actually manage to hit as is.
Give him a bit more sustain/hp upgrades and a few invincible special upgrades and he's unkillable. I intentionally killed myself by running off a cliff at wave 50 with him because nothing could stop me.
Survival definitely needs some additional balancing.
Yup. His sword being instant knockdown is absurd crowd control. With the +20 damage his lightning super is gnarly too. Only real downside is the travel, which means you gotta be more careful on pit stages, and his low HP, which turns him into a total glass cannon.
The claw dude is almost worse cuz he starts with a big health pool, and his spinning claw is multi-hit, so it's turkey raining constantly. Put both of these guys together and you get a completely mindless run until you get bored.
