like tapping sprint could roll you in any direction and holding it breaks you into a sprint.
it IS fun, it just... yeah defensively it kind of needed a bit more.
at least getting hit by itself wont mess with combos.
I miss more moves... at least 1 more grab, different combo finishers, punch and kick buttons... the game has potential but it falls somewhat short.
the simplistic buttons arent the problem; its the vertical movement. everything else is fine. but when you try moving up or down it slows you to a CRAWL.
For example, when I perform a double jump, I will go into a "heavy landing". If there is an enemy nearby, I can get hit. But if my SP meter is ready, I can cancel into a Special move to knock down the enemy, or use it to escape.
However, if you only save your SP meter to use your special move in bad situation, you might not earn Special KO or Crowd Control.
How do I fight", it will be easier for us to come in and address that, rather than "This is the worst DD", which seems like a rant/opinion piece, which we will have to prioritize as we are trying to address more issues at the moment.
1. Add Final Fight style "Super Attack" that give player invincible time but cost a little self damage
2. Add "Down Recovery" that cost the 50% of Special bar even it's not fully charged
3. Reduce Tag team change cost to 50% of Special bar even it's not fully charged
4. Reduce Mission Boss "Down Recovery + Reversal Attacks" frequency and give them down time, currently is every time they will do reversal attacks on player attack cool down
5. Improve the detection of bullet hit, now enemy bullet could hit player even on totally different walking lanes which is unfair
Overall please give player feels satisfied instead of keep punishing player. Player want challenge could always add a super hard difficulty for them. Thanks.
I'm so confused. LOL
The fact of the matter is, you're deflecting the issue here by saying "Be more specific with your topic so we can address the actual issue" is legit laughable... this game is absolute garbage man. DD deserves better than this.
Time your combos, specials, and throws people. No iframes used as a crutch here and thank God because we finally have a breathe of fresh air in this stale genre.
This right here...almost dead on. I will still always love the first arcade game, but that was my introductory into brawlers.
The combat might be a little "simple" at first because of the one button attack...but mixed with the specials, it actually shows some depth. I find my self dodging and running a lot to set up that perfect special for massive crowd control.
but yah its a ton of fun save for the annoyingly slow vertical movement and crowd control poppups.

These guys are great because they don't just button mash the same move over & over. Sure you can also beat Devil May Cry by spamming rocket launchers but it sure doesn't look fun. The Woolie crew make gaiden look fun so it tells me that there is meat to the game.
Super Double Dragon had a tactical combat system which revolved around special move inputs and the special moves were infinite like a fighting game. It worked in Super DD because the enemy ai is fairly smart and know how to avoid and to gang up on you. Unlike the dumb zombie style swarms in Gaiden. Which to be fair most people who don't really play DD usually don't notice just how different it plays from nearly every other beat em up. Most people just call DD archaic & then move on to play some Final Fight lite lol.
Super DD even had one of the more realistic reversal parry systems where you actually leave yourself right open. You could even use the background for environmental damage. That's the direction that beat em ups should've took, instead of this Final Fight Dynasty Warriors crap that the entire genre has turned in to. SOR4 is an interesting evolution due to its scoring system but I wouldn't want every beat em up to play like it.
Super DD's only problem was the terrible frame rate, although that can be fixed with a hack.
I hate this modern gaming trend where every single game genre is homogenizing into a single formula. Look at what happened to character action, Devil May Cry is basically the only one that's still around. Ninja Gaiden turned into Nioh a Dark Souls wannabe. God of War also turned into watered down Dark Souls, but as a cinematic movie game. Bayonetta has an identity crisis too but I think it's due to being Switch exclusive so now Bayonetta Ceriza has become some lame Rpg.
Yes I understand the need for "evolving" to keep up with the times, but why does "evolving" in the video game scene often amount to imitation of whatever is currently popular? What ever is currently popular is usually an over simplification which is especially the case with FPS games.
I'm not saying Gaiden is an example of this. I never played it but it does look like a good Kunio game lol. DD is in this weird place where most noobs hate the gameplay anyway and want it to play more like a simplified Final Fight or Streets of Rage game.
Streets of Rage, the entire series are my fave games of all time with SOR2 being in my top 3 games period but SOR is such at the top of the mountain that I don't see why any one else should try. (Although Fight N Rage provides a great counter argument.) Final Fight hasn't had a new proper beat em up since FF3 which was a damn good game but still nowhere near the level of SOR2, 3 or 4. FF basically still exists due to how damn good FF1 Arcade still is and its connection to Street Fighter. For the record, Final Fight 2 was also good, it just plays like crap when compared side by side to Streets of Rage 2,
A DD game that'd actually carry its legacy would be one that played more like a character action or fighting game. Something similar to Urban Reign but in 2d where you can use the environment as a weapon like a Jackie Chan movie.
Go Play Ultimate Double Dragon. It's the best bar none. (Fan-made game with an Artist from the original )

I think the hardest and most complex beat-em-up is Sengoku 3. This feels more like an SNK fighting game disguised as beat-em-up.
