This game is as ppl like to term is woke as heck so too bad. Truth is nonbinary, Your best friend from high school is as well and you are into them. Your sister is transgendered and also dates a girl. There is even a trans pride flag in your house in there only 3 core locations in game so you'll stare at it a LOT.

I don't think they even know what it means tbh. But how I interept it is they mean things trying to be too politically correct but while I can see that can happen most things ppl say is woke is 'a guy wearing a rainbow patch on his jacket."

It's not "being politically correct", it's a political statement from them, and it's quite a risk, precisely because they know people like you will put bad reviews. The French version is entirely in "écriture inclusive", which is, I think, the only game translated in French to do that, this kind of writing is very controversial in France. That's precisely the opposite of being politically correct.
And I think this statement from them is coherent with the idea of a near future universe and the general antifascist/anticapitalist views of the story...

(And well, seriously, "kind of god" being non-binary offended you ? That's simply absurd.)

Politically correct originated from communists parroting the party line, mostly in non-communist states- it isn't about mainstream, but ifurthering the goals of the party.

And I think this statement from them is coherent with the idea of a near future universe and the general antifascist/anticapitalist views of the story...

Anti-fascist and anti-capitalist? Does the main character advocate for seizing the means of production and placing it in the hands of a vanguard party in order to safeguard the interests of the proletariat?

Or is this 'authority and companies are bad' which has been repeated ad nausuem countless times? Yes, there can be bad leaders and elites who need to be removed but attacking the ides of leadership and hierarchy is nonsensical when you play as character leading society.

(And well, seriously, "kind of god" being non-binary offended you ? That's simply absurd.)

It's ahistorical. You have genderless being (angels, referenced as male), cross dressing, sex changes and transexuals, but 'non-binary' doesn't appear. The closest I can think of are futa depictions of Satan (Baphomet).

Yeah, genderless/sexless beings have existed in fiction basically forever. Usually gods, aliens, or other mythical beings. They have always been referred to as either "it" or "he/she".

This "non-binary" thing is brand new, and is needlessly confusing. I don't care how he acts or what he dresses like, using confusing grammar for him is nonsensical, and it makes the writing actively worse.

Wait what do you mean by french écriture inclusive, you mean they use the " iel " thing or then " ils / elles " in every sentence everytime, or only plural "vous / nous" like and talking in third person like they're Julius Caesar ? :vega:
But then I guess it's obligated if they wanted to translate the non binary without using " il " since we don't even have a neutral gender in our language...

In any case thanks for saying this, I'm never buying this even on a discount, I'm sick of this "inclusivity" which disregard dyslexia and others stuff to make everything so complicated. Non binary aha yeah you wish you could chose like you're some genderless robot or a slug.

If it's for a god or spirit character that's fine by me tho since it's not even human. But if it's used by humans characters then it's a nope. Except if they're some kind of Julius Caesar above the mob aha

I have to admit, I'm still confused by the anti-woke crowd. Is it just that you don't want to know that transgender people exist? Because it used to be about people pushing an ideology, but now it seems if you even include a gay or non-binary character you are being "woke". I've seen people claim a game is woke for having too many black people. What do you guys actually want?
Xyrus Jun 11, 2023 @ 8:08am
Normally I don't mind any of this gender stuff. And in the English voice, the they/them thing feels natural because they are, after all, genderless gods. And that one non binary person just swang along with it, all good. I didn't realize the other character was transgender until I read a codex entry about name change lol

But the written translation to German broke it for me. It's full of these neopronouns and I really have no idea how the hell you use or read those. Xier? Xierse? Xierer? Xiern? What? I can only imagine how it would be for a person with reading issues.

Very inclusive indeed, wanting to be so special that everybody has to tag along with your idea of who you are and you don't give a flying ♥♥♥♥ about disruptivity. The game wanted to promote the idea of non-binary identities and neopronouns but for me, it achived the opposite. Is the world now fairer, nicer, more inclusive?

I was playing a game in English recently, and one of these characters showed up. Instead of going by "Mr." or "Ms." for Mister or Miss, they were using "Mx."

Well, I have absolutely no idea what "Mx." means or how I'm supposed to read/pronounce it. So now I'm supposed to go do research to figure out how to even read your special, made up words? This isn't being inclusive, it's being obnoxious.

A big part of the problem is how sensitive of an issue the topic is. Calling out the few crazy ones is generally seen as an attack on the whole. That leads people to believe that the actually crazy stuff is considered the norm.

We can't establish what "normal" even means, because everyone has a different definition and no one is allowed to discuss it. We end up in a big downward spiral until everyone hates everyone.
