And since interact is the middle mouse you end up doing a silly canter aim/normal aim/canter aim etc. trying to "aim and loot".
At the very least, we need a small transparent spot or thin transparent ring when the weapon is lowered or unequipped so that looting is easier.
I really don't want to die because I got shot standing out in the open desperately trying to pick up some bandages to stop my bleeding but keep opening the container it's sitting on instead.
Also, the excuse for "minimalist hardcore realism" is BS when the bottom left of the screen is filled bars, numbers and icons detailing your character's well being in basic numericals and iconography.
Even Mirror's Edge, with their goal to strip all on screen info to better immerse players, still added a tiny dot in the middle of the screen because they found that not having it causes motion sickness.
So yeah, at the very least give a reference point when the weapon is lowered and remove it when you raise it to go into combat mode. That way you can quickly switch between the two and still easily loot when not shooting but not turn it into a boomer shooter when you go into combat.
