Road to Vostok

It's incredible how optimized this game is...
I tried this on my working laptop with integrated AMD gpu, on the steam deck and this game performs like I have no words to compare it. Simply...amazing!!

Every other dev out there should take notes! but I guess it is 100x simple to take assets from a engine marketplace than to understand the engine and optimize the code and rendering polys...

You sir have my utmost respect! I bow to you good sir.

Completely agree. I've been on an MX150 4GB laptop (basically a GTX 1030 die) and I can play on low settings. With a slow methodical playstyle the 20-30 fps is tolerable, I like the game enough that I'm really enjoying it despite having to potato it out a bit.
It's still super scaled down but yes it is very impressive. As the bosses get added and maps expand the frames will drop so be prepared.

there are games that came out 10 years ago that look and run better than this game.

I wish, I'd be playing them.

I actually really like the use of photo-texturing, and because there's performance left on the table from not using PBR materials the texture resolution is really high. It's got a unique but grounded look, wish more games did this.
Runs great on steam deck !

That's awesome to hear, first Steam Deck feedback I've seen!
So, other Deck users, how does the right stick handle the aiming. From the vids I've seen it requires some precise shooting and in my experience controllers are usually a bit poopy at FPS games that require quick, accurate responses.

You might be out of luck, as far as I know there's no auto-aim mechanic like any shooters made with controllers in mind. Head hitboxes are somewhat generous though.
Aw, crapola. I have real struggles using the left stick to move and the right trackpad to aim which seems like the reasonable solution to no aim-assistance for controllers.

Which ones? I've been gaming on potato hardware long enough that I feel I have some context on the matter, and the Vostok demo is absolutely impressive in it's optimization.
