GPU temp shot up to 83C

As soon as I got into the game I heard my fans go into overdrive and when I checked task manager my GPU temp was 83 degrees celsius so I shut the game down and then it all went back to normal after a few seconds. I am not very smart when it comes to computers but I know I have a fairly standard specs for running all new games, so I don't know what this could be caused by.

83c is perfectly fine for a modern GPU. The game is very well optimized.

If you have "too many" fps, set max fps in you graphic card settings or use vsync ingame. It should lower GPU usage.

I'm on a Vega56 (airblower) and get an average of 66C with a pretty normal fan speed as far as gaming goes. Use your GPU's control software of choice to lock your framerate to your monitor refresh rate and make sure you have a reasonable fan curve and you should be fine.

83c is perfectly normal. I am using an RTX 2060 6GB and mine hits 83c aswell. It has been fine for more than 2 years now.

Try to optimize your voltage / clock speed curve in msi afterburner. Get below 1V and you should be good

i play AAA titles maxed out @2k res with my 3080 and it doesnt even get as hot as when playing this demo. very poor optimization for thermal management. but it does run smoothly on my ftw3 card paired with a 5600x

Vsync is off by default so the engine is telling the GPU to render as many frames/sec as it can. Hit escape and turn on vsync. I was getting almost 300fps until I turned on vsync.

As others have said, high GPU temps (and CPU temps) are not a problem, and your hardware will throttle beyond a certain point to prevent damaging itself.

I reached the highest GPU and VRAM temperatures I have ever seen in a game before. Amazon's New World was the highest with 63°C GPU and 78°C VRAM before. Road to Vostok reached 66°C GPU and 81°C VRAM. It's still fine for my 'ASUS ROG RTX 3070 STRIX OC', but i was suprised. But the overall performance was very good. No lags or so.

My 3060 peaks in temp at 55-56 celcius.

If your GPU is running hot it may be that you need to either replace the fans or dust off the GPU.

Also it may be that older GPU's struggle harder than newer ones in performance, hence the temp increase.

my 3080 just got fresh thermal pads and paste a month ago along with an extensive cleaning. its undervolted. so no dude, its the game. i have an evga ftw3 lol

this game puts a massive power draw on the card, it needs to be fixed.
