Putting food in the counter

Some villagers will gift you food but food doesn't have any effect nor you can eat it. But im curious like can you put a food from your bag to the food counter at your restaurant? It's a waste just to throw the extra food and gift food if you can't use it. Is there a way to put down the food in the counter?

I've been using them to try for upgrades at the brewery. Sadly might be the only use for it, but I'd be happy to be wrong.

So cooked food has a couple uses. You can upgrade your equipment at the brewer to change the affixes on them. You can use them for boba tea upgrades as mentioned. Some villagers might also ask for them.
I think it's a season or so into the game, they give you a personal fridge to put in your room. I've been keeping them there until I find a use for them.
You cannot unfortunately take cooked food from your bag and place them on the server counter.

Personal fridge comes in the mail at the Level 4 Restaurant upgrade.

I see... well i got my extra fridge and chest inside the room already. But to be honest why would the NPC gift you cooked food and not use it for you resto. It's confusing. But then again if the gift cook food can be use to upgrade boba's i think it's good. Hopefully all of the gifted food is on the list on their upgrade boba.
