Best Map to start
Had the game for a while only played it here and there a little bit. I guess my question is there's two maps from what I understand map 1 and map 2. Which map would someone recommend and why? My preference And way of thinking is the more buildings the more supplies I can gather up. Thank you all for your input.

Map 2 is the one, that was at the beginning of the game, map 1 is greater with more content

I live on map 2, on that island looking spot on the east, that is only connected by bridges. I've build literally behind the railway line, opposite those 3 big warehouses on the coastline in the centre of the island (west side of island). I've been looting everything mostly from there, emptying book boxes so they can respawn with other books and blueprints. The train bridge has a train, full of clothing supplies, the warehouses have almost everything from ore to engines, i've yet to go mining, i just keep bringing ore from there whenever i go there. There's also many houses (approx 12), two of which supply heaps of canned foods, the double storey house has lots of ammunition. There's also at least 10 - 12 vehicles for looting, and a vehicle spawns directly opposite my deed, one that i can use/fix. I've already got 2 vehicles and there's a third standing there, but i'm not interested in it. Just little bit east of me is a trader, she specialises in animals, chickens, pigs etc, and just a bit north east of me is a crashed plane, which supplies nice weapons, ammo, clothes and other bits and pieces including books. Going across the one bridge is a small town with some ammo, but not much there, a hospital, another huge farmlooking place with warehouses, where i've found solar panels and a generator, but admittedly, i hit that in the first barn and never explored the rest of the place. So far, I've really had no need to travel far to get what i need, so now i am finally armed well enough to go explore more places without dying at first sight! Lol. Hope you find a good spot.

Map 2 (the original map) is nice and compact. Map 1 (the new map released last year) is quite large and a little trickier to navigate through with all the extra guard rails and concrete barriers on the road side added, not as easy to go cross country exploring.

As for the amount of loot you will find, that will depend on the settings you choose for your game save.

If you want to keep exploration minimal, go with Map 2. If you want the full exploration experience of open land between POI's, use Map 1. If you go with Map 1, I suggest setting the length of your day at 2 hours real life time, it's a pretty big map.
