Where do you get honeycomb? Is it random?

I thought it was trees, but I have cut down easily 200-300 or more trees since starting on our server and I haven't seen a single honeycomb. My friend has gotten one since starting, but that's it. Is there a trick to finding it? Or is it completely random?

It is completely random, Can only be obtained during Spring, Summer and Fall/ Autumn seasons. The drop rate of honeycomb got majorly nerfed some time ago. I think it got nerfed too much though.

However you only need a total of 2 for use in the tech tree. One you dismantle to get a jar of honey which is a requirement to learn the be hive, the other as a requirement to learn the bee hive. After that they are not needed.

Yeah we got one so we harvested it for the fermentation barrel(I think that's what it was for anyway), but now having a tough time finding the next one. Guess I'll just cut down a ♥♥♥♥ ton of trees. Thanks.

you can find it in random barn boxes before, And I think it can show up in the barn trader.

Have to say I have never found it in a loot box anywhere and I have looted a loooot of boxes putting my interactive map together

Yeah I've looted a ton as well and never found it, so I think they disabled that loot drop. Guess it's random from trees then.

It's never been an item found in containers.

Whats really weird, when I start a new upgrade for my base and I need a ton of wood it seems like as luck would have it, I can not load my hiker bag with as many logs as I wanted to, only to find out I have another honeycomb in the bag blocking the wood. Trust me, after you do not need any more honeycombs they will find you.

God i wish that were true. I cut down another 40 trees yesterday and got nothing. Granted 40 isn't a lot a lot, but you'd think I would've gotten at least one out of that.

God i wish that were true. I cut down another 40 trees yesterday and got nothing. Granted 40 isn't a lot a lot, but you'd think I would've gotten at least one out of that.

The drop is pretty rare, but not like you say. I havent even built an actual base. Just a horde base while using a poi as a warehouse and I have like 12+ honeycomb in a chest after already unlocking the skill. Idk how many trees but its got to be less than 100 total.

It has been the same experience through several playthrough's over different versions of the game.

Are you making sure you have enough room in your inventory for a drop when you start to cut the tree? If your inventory is full of logs or something as you chop you won't get it.

i wish I could give some honeycombs. I now have 2 crates full and starting to just drop them. Be sure you have inventory room, they do take up a bit of space.

My inventory is essentially empty when I'm cutting down trees. Will I get it upon picking up the logs, or when I actually cut down the trees? If it's when I cut down trees, I'll just leave a ton of logs on the ground and worry about them later.

You get it at some point while hitting the tree. I am unsure if it is when the tree falls or it is rng for every chop.
