Switch to -dx11 saved me
I can't believe how much better switching to dx11 is. I went from struggling to play in medium settings, DLSS performance, to being able to smoothly run very high settings at 100 fps, even in the populated areas. I heard some people mention that switching helps but I didn't think it would be that dramatic of a change.

This has made my play 200% better. I thought I'd let people know if there's anyone who wasn't aware.

I know what you mean, with an outdated system i barely ran it before, after though its play-able for me with at least 60fps with some fps drops sometimes but play-able nevertheless for me..

I have no ssd to use, i'm stuck fornow using an normal drive.

No no you get something wrong . The fps doesnt matter tbh . The frame dips , and frametime spikes are the problem especially when driving . You can play 80 fps , 60 fps ... IF ITS STABLE . But assume its not . For me dx11 and dx12 is lags like sh*t , no difference at all . But if u have stable 90-100 fps with no microlags at all i EAT MY CAP :D

Was getting random stutters and tried dx11 but was still the same, nothing major just stutters now and then. Then i checked what drive i had installed to and realised i had it on a harddrive, so i uninstalled it and re installed it on my m.2 drive and now it`s running much better.

Yeah, there is two distinct issues that I didn't really bring up, which is: the regular low fps, AND the mircro-stutter. I'm actually getting much better fps and much less stuttering, where the game keeps pausing for a sec. I thought my experience would be universal (improvements for everyone) with the performance gain, but I guess not. There is definitely still some stuttering for me but mostly only when driving and it's so much better than it was before.
I wish everyone could get the performance boost. bummer

Not sure if this fixed the stutters for me but since uninstalling the game then re installing it to my m.2 drive i am able to play max settings in dx12 with no more stutters. Have been playing for 3 hours straight and driving around with no more issues.

That's awesome. Don't know why that worked but glad it did.

Not sure unless with the constant updates maybe some files where overwritten but not removed and doing a fresh install corrected it.

Think i spoke too soon, last night was playing smooth 90fps no stutters maxed out. Load into game today same settings now only getting 65fps and micro stutters again.

This is getting confusing now because i just loaded back into game and played a bit and back to getting 90 fps. Wondering if it`s something to do with the saved games causing issues.

Are you changing areas on the map? I could get good FPS by the coast and less dense areas. This phenomenon makes the FPS issue more confusing because it's not a stable performance, depending on the map location.

I tried dx12 again myself and it still seemed pretty bad so I switched back again. But, dx11 is still working great for me, aside from some minor stutters.

If you mean switch to dx11:

You have to go to your game library on Steam and click on No One Survived in the library. Right click the mouse on the game and open "properties". And then enter -dx11 into the box at the bottom where you can enter text.
And then, when you start the game, you will be running in dx11 instead of dx12.

Just been hanging around base gathering resources to build up base and get iron ingots cooking. which is what i did before and had 90 fps, saved the game for next rl day. Loaded game doing the same tasks and only hit 65fps. And then today back to 90fps so it just seems weird that two days doing the same thing in same area has different affects on fps when loading a save.

stuttering can be caused by lots of things ... do you have game overlays running .. is xbox bar enabled on your pc .. what's your ram like ....

google game stuttering and you will find a huge amount of advice .. much of it not game specific

running maxed out on film settings with a 10th gen cpu is kind of ><
