Just now I hung up 12 pieces of deer meat in 3 smokers. I turned around to get charcoal and when I turned back around all 3 smokers had 1 piece of fully smoked jerky in them and that is all.
I figured it has a finite lifespan but like I said, a couple of times I had just started a game and hadn't even used it to cook anything yet and it disappeared, so it couldn't be wearing out.
Hopefully keeping a storage trunk next to the fire, and keeping the pot in there when not in use will avoid the issue. I do hope they nerf or outright remove durability from some items like the pot and water bottles. The stone axe also wears out way too quickly.
It as actually been relatively bug free, besides some minor stuff like campfire animation after fire should be out.
