is it possible to emulate the older games?
I would love to be able to emulate the older games (Lenneth, Silmeria, and Covenant of the Plume) to play on PC (I use a Windows 10 laptop). I asked this in a previous post 3 days ago but noone seemed to answer yet. Is ir possible to emulate the older 3 games in the Valkyrie Profile series, and if yes, how can I legally download the ROM/iSO and what are the recommended settings to make the games run smoothly and the best emulators?

Duckstation, if you speak french Romstation could work too.
If you prefer the mobile version of VP1 you could try with bluestacks, should be fine with a controller.
For Silmeria, take a look at PCSX2 Wiki, you can eventually find a good way of doing so.

For VP 1 PPSSPP latest dev builds if you want to play in a native widescreen, or Duckstation. Both run VP 1 nearly flawless. PCSX2 latest QT builds for Silmeria requires a lot of custom configurations to fix upscaling bugs at higher resolutions.

There's better places to go than steam if you need help with this.

Legal Console Emulation Route:
  1. Buy a copy of Valkyrie Profile (~$400 for Playstation, ~$100+ for PSP by current auctions/Amazon).
  2. Create your ISO for personal use; if you went the PSP route, you will need to buy a PSP and mod it to do this (~$150-$200), otherwise you'll need a CD/DVD/BD drive in your PC/laptop.
  3. Install RetroArch and grab the relevant core. You can even do so via Steam from the official store page; if you do so, grab the relevant core as "DLC".
  4. Play

Legal Mobile Emulation Route:
  1. Own an Android or iOS smartphone or tablet.
  2. Buy Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth ($17.99).
  3. If on iOS, stop here because there is no emulation. If on Android, root your device and copy the APK to your PC.
  4. Install your desired flavor of emulator flooded with ads and tracking software; Bluestacks is favored even though it's a security nightmare. Powerplay move: Build your own emulator using Android Studio.
  5. Play

Bonus points: Take this time to be pissed that SE has, per usual, favored Japanese console customers with a free remaster of the PSP version if they pre-ordered on PS4/5.

If you have a phone, the android version of 1 plays well with a phone + controller. Bluestacks or something is also a possibility, but if you have one of those telescoping controller grips for your phone you can use controls for everything but menu navigation which you'll do on the touch screen. It's a very pleasant and affordable way to play the game.

i think you can emulate PS1 games on android without a controller because I have an emulator which plays all sorts of games on my tablet called Retro Gaming World, and I know of one called RetroArch as well.

duckstation is really good. i use to use the main / oldest emulators because they were the first but i been spoiled with nice UI's like duckstation, emulationstation, retroarch, and Retrobat.

They do have Google play on PC but the game is still not supported. There is also a way to sorta sideload the play store through power shell and the game might actually work that way.

i actually tried out PPSSPP the last day (on my Android tablet) and i think the problem with the no sound was that I had the global volume too low. I tried out one game (Yggdra Union) with the global volume set to 10 and it works fantastic, no issues at all! I might just use it to try out Valkyrie Profile Lenneth on my tablet! I wish they would port Yggdra Union to steam, I don't know why the mobile version is not in English. I would love Riviera on steam too! Do you guys remember that game? I have a pre-emulated copy on my tablet (meaning there was no need to download the iSO) under the title Riviera demon war fighting game and it runs brilliantly! Oh, and one more thing, can you add games made for emulators to steam (ROMs, iSOs) via the option ''Add a non-Steam game to my library? It would save me having to download an emulator to PC in case of malware or viruses.

does RetroArch let you download ROMs yourself or do you have to download them from a site?

You have to supply them yourself.
