Divine beast teaching and evolution

How exactly does this work?

My divine beast is at Refining X and ready to evolve, but when I do so I'm warned that there are still learning attempts remaining. I fed it a bunch of teaching fruits so do the attempts from that get wiped when it evolves?

Also, I had my Sect Master be the target of learning but I checked their stats before/after the learning completed and saw no changed stats (and prompting to evolve. Targeted another disciple which had been the target of learning previously and also no change. The available teachings also didn't seem to get used up?

So I have two questions:
1. Do I lose the teaching attempts if I evolve the divine beast?
2. What is a suitable target for divine beast teachings?

Not sure if it was added in the new update or not - but I see a description now

Teaching adds +3 per year to a random stat , so it's easily overlooked

Right but I took a screenshot of my Sect Master's stats before and after the Divine Beast finished teaching and saw no change in their stats. I assumed that the stats would apply after the Divine Beast finished teaching, and that teaching takes a year.

Are you saying that I needed to wait for the current year to tick over and then the stats would appear?

You're right! Tested with my sect master again and made sure it was a different year and the stats increased as expected. Thanks!
