IN HEAT: Lustful Nights

Questions about the plot (lore) of the game
After completing the first Date with Sammy, I got a little confused about the logic of the plot.

First, I would like to know - are the Protagonists from the Security Room and the Nightclub the same person or not?

The thing is that in the Date plot I noticed a mention that the Guard's shift lasts until 6 o'clock, just like the Protagonist from the Nightclub. However, as we remember from the game in this mode, the Nightclub Guard could ... "pass the time" with a free girl, calling her to his office. However, judging by the words of the Man from the Date, he did not have "close communication" with Furry girls, which is somewhat confusing, since such a situation is logical for the Protagonist from the Security Room, who works until 7 o'clock, and this does not fit with the Man from the Date.

Actually, this inconsistency is my second question, because I would like to understand what is what)

No idea, honestly we might just need to wait for more details.

I think it would be that there is more than one protagonist though. This is the second game they made involving dates with all the girls. Something that seems to be referenced in the first date.

Maybe this night club guard hasn't gotten the privilege of 'calling them up' and is just 100%'ing the nightclub at the moment. Avoiding any untoward 'interactions'.

I mean, it would be kinda weird if this was the same guy who has lost multiple times to the girls. It would mean they have gone WAAAYYY past 1st base already.

Once again, I think we just need details.

My understanding is that girls at Work, and girls at Date are two different mentalities. Possibly three different, since girls at Security Office Work implied to kill or otherwise make you unable to go through the nightshift.

The mechanism of the switch is not yet certain, but it might be a mixture of coercion, money (privileges), drugs, hypnosis and simply time-scheduled estrus. Maybe something involving that demon in the bird cage from ending?

Simply put, girls at working hours treat you as just another man they need (or NEED) to service, while on date they are themselves and picking you for you.

We can also go into In Heat: Honeymoon spin-off, but I haven't properly opened that can of worms yet.

As for mentality, it's hard to say, since Sammy isn't very cooperative on the date, which could be due to total surveillance, which you can also learn about on the same date, but the obvious use of strange drugs for greater "efficiency" is already obvious if you paid attention to what Poppy tells you in the finale of NightClub.

As for the spin-off, Honeymoon, it's hard to judge, personally I don't understand how much it is connected specifically to this game. It's just that my assumptions that there may be one protagonist in the main game are partly related to the description of objects, like toys and gifts, that are presented as comments from the same person.

My understanding was not that Sammy wasn't cooperative, she didn't want her only (for now) day-off to be just another workday. And that involves a certain foreplay like actual dating.

As for surveiliance, judging by Kass' role in Night Club levels, she is a third party, and whether Sammy knew about her or not, her spying isn't connected to "upper management". Part of why is she making a deal with you to not tell your superiors about her little "record keeping".

As for Honeymoon, it is supposedly different protagonist, but same universe. I still need to read more of that, but it does have a good feel for who are the girls themselves.

As I understand it, they are the same person. A self-insert for the player. The Guard says that his shift ends at 6AM. Security office shift lasts till 7AM. Which means he is currently working at the Nightclub. However, he points out towards Misty on the tram, that he has only met her when she was half asleep and nibbling on his calf. That clearly references the security office.
But when you get the Nightclub L1 call from the Phone Guy, he congratulates you to your promotion and "moving to the upper echalons" of the company, that is managing the VIP experience. At the beginning of the first Sammy date, you also mention that you are climbing the ladder and "making a name for yourself".

My conclusion being that the Guard has worked the filthy security office, got a promotion after surviving the hunter, and now works at the pristine Nightclub. Regarding having no "close communication" with the girls, I think that is more of a nod towards the fact that before the addition of Dating, you could not really chat with them or try to understand them as people. That they were coworkers that could give you "a hand", but until now, they could not really be your aquintances.

Which is true, because until now, I have felt a notable disconect towards them as characters, and I am glad that I'll now have more opportunity to interact with them as such.

Though one thing I am not sure of, is why the Guard has the code to Nile's phone. I would understand it if the Sammy date was after dating Nile in the plot, but considering that Sammy was the first customer and this is the first date... Sharing your code is a sign of a pretty big familiarity, I would say. I guess we'll see. I cannot wait for the next update.

Ah, that's simple. Nile is extremely bad with tech, so having a simple code is no-brainer. As for how he could see it, maybe she unlocked it on cameras, maybe he managed to hear her saying it under her breath, it's not like this code is too hard to get by social hacking.

Why do I feel like sharing a passcode that was not even voluntarily given is even worse?

I still struggle to believe it, as having issues with tech (is that a fact? Is there some background material that mentions it? Some people here mentioned Honeymoon; is that some kind of DLC?) should not translate into issues remembering more complex four-digits. She would enter it the same way. And I cannot even read the label on the back of the robot through camera. And I have never seen Nile in the proximity of a phone, let alone unlocking it (though she clearly has to have it on her person, since you can call her and others in NC. And I doubt the Guard could discern it through the camera, even with deliberate focus (which would be very unprofessional). And do they even meet between shifts? The Guard never leaves the control room during shift. Perhaps he saw it during one of their 'call-ins'. I'm probably nitpicking. But it does provoke thought.

Honeymoon is a visual novel style game with limited 2d animation. Basically a guy gets 'lucky' when his boss pays for VIP access to the island but his wife gets pissed off about it. So he gets to go on it instead. The guy goes on dates, threesome dates, with each of the girls. It is a choose your own adventure. And one of the dates is Sammy and Poppy. Then there is Nile and THE SHORK. Lastly, Ari and MAddy.

I think the threesome discussion involving Sammy and Poppy COULD be a reference to Honeymoon. And I think you access Nile's phone in one of the parts of Honeymoon's date. Finally, the tram you take to go meet Sammy is routinely used in Honeymoon. And Prinny is someone who manages your dates as well.

Thing is, the game is made by Aquapaulo in cooperation with Monsterbox. So I have NO IDEA how much is cannon. There is some neat lore details in it though. Ari is insane by the way. Never felt more unsafe in a game whenever she was involved.

Finally, this protagonist is in no way the security guard. Or at the very least he isn't employed by the end of the game. Though in one of the endings the girls end up very attached to you. Which is all I will say.

Is it on Steam? I cannot find it. Anyway, seeing Nile's phone in Honeymoon would do no good conectivity-wise, because, as you said, they are not the same guy.

The Sammy and Poppi threesome sounds like a nod towards Honeymoon, but it is also probably a jab towards the "Where is my threesome!?" Nightclub voiceline, given that Sammy said he "kept demanding it" (which I do not know whether was the case with Honeymoon).
Ari? Interesting. If we ommit her bloodmoon transformation into an actual killer (with a ♥♥♥♥), and her overall issues with losing control under the influence of the Moon, I assumed she was one of the more sane members of the gang (definitely behind Poppi). Now I am even more curious.

It is on Itch.io. You can usually find it searching on your web browser.

Yea... Ari is... um... Interesting... depending on her state of mind. Outside of Bloodmoon form at least. If you play it you'll understand. She has guns constantly for... reasons.

And yea, it might be a call out to the voice line. Or maybe the voice line is a reference to Honeymoon. I have to check the dates to determine what versions came out when.

Found it, thanks. I'll try to avoid spoilers and see whether I'll impulse-buy it later.
