how do u play free mode?

saw it in the store video but can't find it in game.

If you are talking about walking segment - it's Nightclub mode. You can select it when you click Play Game in menu and select tape "Nightclub". After that you need to move your head up and click on monitor.
But this segment with riding is just segment of the game, where you must fix broken rooms. Not just riding and watching animals :)

Given the nature of the game's... ahem, appeal, I'm surprised there isn't a mode where we can freely move around and observe things using the cameras and robot and put girls into the rooms without worrying about failure states.

Maybe in future updates will be something like this. It's alpha version now :>
