Subnautica 2

Subnautica 2

Graphic card
If you have 4GB of vram instead of 6GB like the ones who are recommended, would you still be able to play tha game when it comes out?

You cant. Okay, maybe with low(er) settings and more or less low fps.

With a Office card like rx 6400, you cant play subnautica 2 without stuttering like hell. Lets bet

As long as I can play it everything else doesn't matter, once the game is out and I try it I shall come back here and tell if it works or not. My hope is given by the fact that in the requirements the rx 5500 xt isn't specificed if they want the one with 4gb or 8gb vram
since u grazed this 4 gb vs 6gb video memory topic i wanna ask , did you guys find any games on steam that in minimum req want 6gb but game actually works with 4gb? i think there might be many, but they just dont want to say no more to force us to replace gpu
btw i am also still on rx 570 4gb video memory gpu, and also scared sub 2 wont run on this

Its 2025, even 8 gb VRAM is going obsolete

Specs can change. Especially the 20GB disk requirement.

The early access will be in 2025, the release should be 2, 3 years later.

Considering 2027 as a release date, I wouldn't be very optimistic for a game to run on a 4GB GPU.

hope you get to upgrade soon! youre missing out on so much. even the og game is just stunningly gorgeous. i cant wait to see how visually pleasing the second one is going to be. hope you get to experience it someday!

Fact for anyone who doesn't know. Textures are put onto the VRAM of a GPU for fast access. When/if that is full, the system will dump it to system RAM, which is slower for the GPU to access and can/may result in reduced FPS. IF this is also capped out, the system will pull it from storage, as it is the source cache. This will have the highest impact on performance.

So in short, yes, you will be able to play with a GPU with less VRAM than the recommended or even minimum. You could play with a GPU with less than a gig VRAM, though there would be horrible performance issues with this as the system would constantly be swapping and calling for textures while the displayed image would likely be riddled with invisible/non-textured objectes.

Those two games have small maps, and dont rewquire your computer to work as much because the servers are doing alot of the loads.
