Subnautica 2

Subnautica 2

Every Co-op game should be minimum 5 people, Hear me out.
If the cap was 4 you can play fine if you were 2 people 3 people 4 people

But 5?

What are you gonna do? divide the team to 3 by 2 ?
That does not work!

Why? you might ask?

Because playing as only 2 people is Sad! especially when your other team is 3 people!

Tell me how many games out there with a max of 2 players only?
Not Much! that's for sure!

But!!

If the max was 5! Then that single person would not be singled out!
And if they're 6 people then they just divide the team to 3 by 3

Logic!!!

You know the rule of three! You need three people to make a perfect team!
And with that being said, I petition to make the cap into 5 people

Would be highly appreciated.

why would you divide people in a team? arent yall supposed to work together?

Cuz we're 5 people and the game cap is 4 so we will be forced to play as either

3 by 2 :'(
or
4 by 1 :'( :'(

Four players, got it.

How about Sub Devs, let us host a server, and pile in as many friends as we got cores to manage them.
10 people on the Cyclops would be a total nightmare, especially if they add player collision

Yeah, I understand the Devs need to ensure the quality of the game, I dont want to have my gaming experience be ruined by lags, crashes and what not

But having to play as only to 2 people when you are 5 has already ruined the experience for me, And it's just because of 1! missing spot!

Now that's just sad

This is a very specific complaint that we don’t know what kind of effect an additional player could add, I think the main problem is if every player is in a different area, all 4 areas would have to be loaded at the same time on the same server. I believe that was a problem with the multiplayer mod for S1 but I never used it so I can’t be sure

Yeah that's what I got as well but having already played multiplayer games that allow a much larger number than that makes it seem possible, Especially if it's only 1 extra person

And although Subnautica is different then them considering the fact that it's world is entirely submerged in water I'm sure it's going to be more demanding, How much? I don't know

But surely one extra slot is not going to make that much of a difference, Right?

I don't know how possible something like that would be

WHY NOT 7!??!?

I get the desire to keep your group as a whole, I really do

But unfortunately the number of players affect the stability and experience of the game? Apparently? Or at least it what I heard

Plus adding 1 extra slot is easier than 3 I'm tryna be realistic

A 4 by 3 is still better than a 3 by 2

Alas if only everyone can get what they want

I read this like it was a skit in Monty Python's Quest For The Holy Grail

We don’t know, that’s the main problem, maybe they will increase the max, and if they don’t, I’m confident that mods for more people will come out anyways
I still don't get this 2 + 3 thing. Why would you need to split the players into two groups? Can someone please explain this to me? If the game supports 4 players then I would expect those players to play together, if it supported 5 players I would expect them to play together, why is it so important to split the team up? Besides, whether it's 3, 4, or 5 players and the team is being split, it could be 1 + 3 or 1 + 4, what's the obsession with 2 + 3? Why do you think that 2 + 3 is better than 2 + 2? How is 3 + 3 any different or better play-wise to 2 + 2?

First I have to ask is Co-op peer to peer or is there a hosted server?

If peer to peer then 4 is a nice cap to limit bandwidth as some states are working to tax such use as well as streaming. This Co-op world to be quite honest is about to be extremely limited due to up-coming tax initiative(Yes I know the US Supreme Court ruled a few years ago no tax on internet) by the current Governor in the state I live in.

Why 2 by anything? Are you playing 2 computers at once? Should it not be 1+1, 1+2, 1+3?

3 by 2 which is sad because one group will be forced to play as only 2 people when they were 5, And you need at least 3 people in a team to get a good dynamics

Not everyone is playing with their girlfriend

or 4 by 1 which is cruel to single out people, we don't want to have to single out anyone

It depends on the game, but a dedicated server is more common, And I don't know about tax but I doubt that's problem considering the fact high multiplayer games are still being produced

And It's not 2 computers it's 5 people with a cap of 4 and 2 is not a good dynamics for a team, You can't even call it a team it's a Duo!
I think team size should be dependant on the gameworld and how much busywork there is in the game to keep everyone entertained. Anything between 2-4 seems adeqaute for they setting.
Hmm, I think maybe I get it now. So you have 5 friends who want to play a co-op game together, so if the player cap is 4 then 1 person is left out, then in order to still play the game co-op you have to play in two separate sessions.

I don't think 2 players is going to be that different to 3 or 4. If I play this game co-op it will likely be with the only friend I know who played the first two games, so I'll either be playing solo or co-op with a team of 2.

I very much doubt the devs are going to change their plans just for one person who likes to play with their four other friends. I wish you luck with your campaign!

Feels more like a thought experiment but you are probably correct in your assessment that the devs won't change it, Buggy Boy.
I am certain there will be mods which remove that limit eventually though.
I can already see the video of twenty people trying to knife a leviathan.
