Tips welcomed and what I did to survive to day 6
I survived until the 6th day, but it wasn't pretty as half my town was destroyed. Anyone have any tips for better survival? I prioritized saving my army and hero whenever they were in danger, so I didn't clear as much of the map as I probably could have. I also never got to establishing an outpost, so most of my army was lower tier spearman/archers.

https://ibb.co/3TPvsw9

What I did:
- Used terrain and walls to block off 3 directions. For now at least, the enemies path around the walls. There was an odd enemy or two who attacked the walls, but most of them went around.
- The open side was seeded with ballista to add firepower to my forces. Laid the healing aura over them when I could. But I didn't hesitate to fall back to preserve my forces who could level and were mobile.
- All of my iron and silver was from clearing enemies out, destroying spawners, or breaking down random loot.
- My army was 1 spearman, 1 cleric, 1 slayer, & 7 archers. Plus the hero. Mostly overpowering firepower for lower tier enemy or hit & run for the larger/higher level enemy.
- My hero specced heavy in the healing, getting it up to T3. Overlayed that whenever. He finished at lvl 11.
- Cleared out an orc/goblin camp for tons of gear; thought most of it was broken up for components. Most of my final gear was fine quality and 1 epic.

How were you able to get the higher tier units like knight, paladin, gunman, or mage. How'd you tool your economy to get an outpost down in time for give you good iron/silver production? Has anybody been able to survive without sacrificing half your town and tons of ballista? If so, how?

Walls. Walls. Walls.
As long as there is some distance between the wall and other buildings, the enemies seem to only target the walls. They make a great distraction. Just a few stone wall segments at town entrances will do.

Anyone survived night 6? I've been tryin different things, like for example upgrading 5 archers to gun-toters(theyre not much better tbh) but the next thing im thinking is abandon everything cept the castle lined with farms 2 squares to the wall it in with lined with one ballista in each corner rest towers and filled with archers in the middle.

Question is how many archers can i put in the castle healing area without starving them.

I survived night 6. Not much different from Night 5 except for one executor (big red guy). Archers die way to quickly against him, so I got knights & paladins. My army was entirely knights & paladins, so I can't say how he'll react to a mixed army of archers & knights, but I'd definitely try and get a knight or 2 to tank. They're armored so take less physical damage.

As in my previous post, I had walls to distract and take damage off my actual production. Can't remember how much of the town I had left, though.

Is there any way other than Early production to go? Always get tavern, always get bakery? Tavern always after Barracks?

Tried out op's tactic of closing off most directions except 1. One key difference was using a double wall system. I left a hole on the outer wall and closed off the inner, and put ballistas in between. Mixed results. The final wave definitely went to the east where the hole was, but plenty either attacked the wall or the ballistas if they were ranged.

Day 7

Night 7 / Day 8 (Lost)
Way too many executors. But worse yet, the pathfinding on my archers was absolute ♥♥♥♥. Half of them refused to go back into the fort and they preferred to go through holes in my walls over the gates.

I never get tavern. Way too expensive, and I prioritize the barracks, and blacksmith (& everything it needs) over it.

Also blacksmith is currently op. The upgrades it gives you return 20% of resources spent. However, it always rounds up, so recipes that take only 1 unit of a resource refund it entirely. Get the hammer on the blacksmith and all recipes that use 1 resource are free.

Thats gotta be a bug right? feels odd. Gonna do that tho next run.

Pathfinding works best if you dont use gates and put a narrow opening which you guard with a Knight or Paladin so everything goes for it i noticed.

So minimum of 4 knights/or paladin on in each direction.(more with layered defense) If you have a priest or mage even better since you dont have to check back on them so often since they get healed then also.

Ugh nevermind i take it back, Paladins aint tanky enough even with double heal circle and upgraded castle aura.

Worked like a charm til the last 5-6? demons. Had them to half health when they killed my castle. Gonna switch out the increase dmg spell towards freeze i think.

Is it possible at all to kill the demon gates in the demo? I theorize that the best shot would be on day 7 when you have as many archers as you can + a few paladins that you juggle the giant red guys between.

Or just mass paladins that you micro the giant red guy between? all while maxing healing gear on your hero ofc.

Finally did it! wooo

There's a archmage hero build you must use to be able to do it for certain, otherwise you could luck in on healing items with another strategy i guess, never managed that one myself tho.

I Wont ruin it here tho ;) just know that its pretty doable when you got it down.

I suspect it was a bit easier after the patch but it would still had been doable before this patch. Just smaller margins.

As for buildings, i went all out on stone, wood and food(minimum 3 each at start) and had 15 Archers! I made squares of ballistas and cannon towers can take on everything until night wave 7 i suspect, heck i killed half of the red demon gang on my last defense try too.

Lol, nice, the msg in the purple table was never meant to be seen by anyone :D NEVER! haha. So you managed to pass it by defending the city? What do you mean you only killed half of the red demon gang? Not all of them? Or did you win by destroying all 3 portals?

(we don’t understand Swedish :) our publisher does, but we’re from Slovakia)
(sorry for the late reply)

The try before that i managed to kill half the demon invaders on the the last night but lost after that is what i mean't.

I won by killing all the portals not surviving the invasion.
