You have to join specialist at the same time or if they're monster you better hope you join their game

You can't anymore. Let them know their practices are garbage. They removed the private lobby ability because they likely want to 'adjust' the rewards payout. Since more cosmetics are able to be bought with tickets now, I'm betting they're implementing some kind of reward throttling for private games, if not removing rewards altogether. No more tickets in private games, no more exp in private games. There's no other reason 'lobby and private games didn't make it in this update'.

Best you can do is have everyone set their download region to the same location, then try to all join at the same time.
