I was pretty interested in this game until I heard about that article.
If any other indie fighting game developers out there are reading this: you don't need to hire that man if you want your game to have good rollback netcode. It's not that complicated. Any software engineer can read the same set of articles and have the same understanding of how to do it.
EDIT: After doing my own research it looks like people might've been wrong about Mike the whole time. It's just how I think at the moment and it's really messed up if you look deeper into it.
There's evidence that the sexual harassment and abuse allegations are false. There are court documents that revealed that Lab Zero had a private discord channel where they conspired behind Mike Z's back.
A woman named Bunny Ayu on twitter accused him of sexual harassement, with screenshots showing he was simply being awkward after she was the one that made the conversation sexual.
Lab Zero employees then tried to get him to leave the company but he refused. That's when they made a private discord channel to conspire against him. Chat logs show even they admitted that he did nothing wrong and that it would be bad for their reputation if they got rid of him for simply being awkward, so they decided to make up abuse allegations. There were logs showing it was business related reasons.
Allegations don't make a man guilty. There's something called justice and you're not a judge nor a lawyer. As many people in the cancel culture, it's obviously something that you can't understand.
The allegations were the basis for what ultimately happened with Lab Zero, all its staff, and the Skullgirls project. If you wanna call BS on everything in the article, fine, but it's still good to know these things.
The lack of justice in this case is the reason why we're even talking about it.
Tell me you didn't read the article without saying you didn't read the article.
If it's such a non-story, why bother commenting? Nobody's policing anything. But my perception of this game changed when I found out that dude was a part of it.
Knowledge is power.
Same.
Society.
You can't call someone A title, as if he genuinely did it, without showing both sides, the side I shared wasn't his, it was one perspective in the office.
Worst of all? It's clear that the people who took over hate the thing he made, since both games have been neutered and ruined by the new owners. While he thrives being happy making games, not making this about himself, nor taking all the credit.
Not just a private Discord but a slack group too where they conspired to strongarm the company from him.
It's B.S.
Worst of all, the guy has autism, it's bad enough that they have trouble communicating properly.
