Fantastic but don't expect a remake of 2. As for 3 and 4 they don't need remakes. Only 1 and 2 are dated.
Correct but don't let that stop you from playing WitchSpring 4 on a mobile device, it's a very good game.
Pros: vastly improved voices, animations, more detailed story.
Cons: no post game content yet. Fewer options in combat than 3 and 4 (but still way more than 1 and 2)
Yes it's all one long story. WitchSpring 2 is not really a sequel but it actually runs parallel to WitchSpring 1 viewing the exact same events in the game from a different perspective of a character you'll meet in WitchSpring 1/R. WitchSpring 3 and 4 advance the story and if you play them will spoil all the previous games so it's recommended in order. The major story beats of WitchSpring 2 are summarized in R so there's no need to play 2. You can go straight from R to 3 and then 4.
If you really want to play 2 then I recommend you play 1 first instead because going from R to 2 is going to be very difficult of an adjustment. Where as you won't know what you're missing if you start with 1.
Just as AlphaWhelp said all the story is connected. Witchspring 2 is Witchspring 1 in perspective of Luna, 3 is just witchhunt in another continent, but 4 will give you the whole picture of the story and lore so i highly recommend it
Not too interested in luna point of view enough to try 2 and since 3 is already on PC I might as well try that one.
As for 4 - will give it some time first to see if they might get it onto PC as well seeing as how R got pretty successful.
Is there some carryover or something to help with getting all 3?
I honestly don't remember much on Witch Spring 2, it was pretty much the middle. What I remember well most is Witch Spring 3. Great story, great music, and quite a range to it. Ease of grind, so it was quite fun to just get stronger. However, post game bosses scaled to your stats.
And as for a question above,
Witch Spring 3 has 3 Endings, it is advised to make a save at Chapter 3, this is where the first decision is made. And you can get to the True Path by going Dark and then back to light. True Path extends the gameplay about an hour if I remember right. Note, more side stuff you get done, the longer the post game. And you'll love Eirudy. She is innocent, slow spoken, but gentle. And when something bad happens to her, it really hits deep. And, this game has amazing music, and the visuals for the cutscenes are top quality.
Witch Spring 4 was another great one. I think in comparison to the rest, Witch Spring 2, is likely the weakest. Witch Spring is better, more entertaining really. However, lacks the depth Witch Spring 3 and 4 has.
No matter Witch Spring R is a wonderful game. Also, it really bugs me that I cannot mount pets in battle. It has its issues I suppose, nothing serious. Though, now that I spoke of Witch Spring 3, want to play that one again.
Think of Witch Spring Being the general start to end of the witch hunts. Witch Spring 2 middle to end. Witch Spring 3 being the end. Witch Spring 4 is post war. All of them have some lore to the game, with the fourth really getting into it.
Witch Spring 3 also has quite a range of options for battle. More than Witch Spring R. Though, it is not as deep as Witch Spring R when it comes to strategizing. Also, Eirudy basically gets the Spirit Bomb if you choose the staff and evolve it. XD
More on the endings, make a save if you want to view the Dark Path. There is no Post Game in this option. In the Light Path, you basically cutout like half of the chapter if memory serves. There is a different scene, and Eirudy gets a unique costume and can enter an extra place. As for the True Path, it will take you for a roller coaster ride.
If you really "want to see everything" you can do the bad ending first, then do the good ending. You can skip the neutral ending because it's literally just the first half of the bad ending + the second half of the good ending. Do the bad ending first because there's no post game in the bad ending.
I believe the good ending is the canon one.
At some point in chapter 3 Eirudy will get asked if she thinks she can trust humans and pick the top answer for the good ending and the bottom for the bad ending. The middle can lead to either bad or neutral endings but only the top choice goes to the good ending.
Also all the neutral ending exclusive content is accessible in post game in the good ending. In the end the only real difference is if you want the good ending outfit or the neutral ending outfit.
Quick correction, the middle path is the True Path.
It is not neutral. Literally in the guide description.
The last option, would lock you into the Dark Path. And the first option locks you into the light path.
There is some difference between the Light Path and the True Path. Such as the Light Path giving an extra costume and an extra area. The True Path makes the gameplay around an hour longer, as they’re new scenes exclusive to it.
I 100% completed the game multiple times.
The endings are referred to as,
Dark, Light, True.
Dark = Bad
Good = Light
True = True Ending.
And another quick note, you can only collect all dolls on the True Path. The Light Path locks you out of a doll.
Think of the middle option as a crossroad. You can choose to go into Dark or True Path by choosing it. And before I forget, you can only upgrade your soul stone to the max on either the Dark or True Path. You are essentially handicapping yourself if you choose the Light Path.
Though, it does give a few things you cannot get on the True Path. The same in vice versa. In short, the True Path is much more valuable. And there are certain illustrations you cannot fill on the Light Path.
So, my advice is to create a save for the Dark Path, and then do the True Path for the post game, and the other better things to obtain. Including the great story in it. Think of the True Path as giving the full main story, and all of the valuable things.
It doesn't lock you out of a doll. You can still get the doll in post game. The only thing it locks you out of is the final soulstone level and the neutral outfit.
The "extra one hour" of gameplay in the neutral ending is just the bad ending portion, by doing just bad + good you see all the content except for the one neutral specific illustration. All three routes have exclusive things you just get almost all of it by doing bad + good.
I’ve played the Light Path before, that doll is not available in the post game. Unless something changed between points. And to the point of doing bad ending + plus good. That is just some extra unneeded work. Might as well just do the True Path.
Edit: Looks like something did change with the Light Path at some point. That or I misremembered. So yeah, the doll can be obtained in the post game. However, remember this, only on the True Path in the post game you can unlock Bernick’s upgraded form. Light Path you can only get its normal form.
So seven things to note.
True Path gives.
1. Illustration.
2. Crow Outfit.
3. Upgraded Bernick
4. An extra hour of gameplay.
5. Max level soul stone.
What it locks you out of.
1. Temple Lord Outfit.
2. An extra area.
And some extra things to note,
In the Light Path, the slightly new scene if I remember right is a character being used as bait to capture Eirudy. In the True Path, this one is referred to as
The Light that Only Comes Once(story builds around this). There are some things in this one like the other paths that have something exclusive to them.
My final advice is to create three save files one in Chapter 3, and and one in Chapter 4.
Chapter 3 you can use this to access the Light Path. In Chapter 4, you can choose between the Dark and True Path.
True path essentially covers both bad/good stories while skipping a few negligible details.
Basically you first play ~95% of the dark path followed by ~95% of the light path if you decide on the true path.
Main differences are:
Good path skips the dark path entirely and has slightly different introduction to good path compared to true one... + a few negligible details are changed during it.
Dark path changes the ending entirely and skips the good path entirely. And is literally the 'bad ending' where Eirudy essentially becomes a mass murderer. That being said the ending portion itself lasts like 5 minutes and what I mentioned here is pretty much all it covers.
Dark path end does spoil a few details for good/true path but nothing you won't know without playing it.
The story itself is as people mentioned highly overarching, not only it happens on different continents at +/- same time but it also follows a global plot and has mentions of what happens on other continents here and there along with some cameos you won't understand otherwise.
So far I completed the remake of 1 and the PC version of 3, hence the only one left out of release versions is 4.
Remake of 1 is certainly a perfect start if 3 is anything to judge the series by. You can certainly appreciate just how far the developers went with polishing their initial ideas.
Going into 3 feels like a massive downgrade but on the other hand it's also considerably shorter and grindy parts can be skipped much faster.
Looking forward to 4 and the future planned 5/6 on PC, hopefully their good ratings on PC will motivate them.
use an older device to purchase the game, extract the apk (look up how to do this elsewhere. Some apps require root to extract), then sideload the apk on the new device. It'll work fine. The problem is Google forces the manifest definitions on the play store so until that gets updated to say it works with the new OS then Google Play won't let you download it.
if you don't have an older device, you can use an android emulator to do it but you'll have to take a few extra steps to get google play services running on it. Again, read elsewhere on how to do this. I don't know how to do it.
Seems like no news on the 5 at all yet.
Sure taking long compared to a game per ~1.5 years for first 4 games.
Then again R took ~3 years and was certainly worth it - a huge improvement compared to 3 at least... but probably compared to 4 as well.
