How to increase tourism?

I'm having a lot of fun with this game. However, I'm constantly strapped for coins, as I never get many tourists. I'm building Economy buildings and Guesthouses, making use of the combo bonuses every time, building roads out to the designated spot on the edge of the map, keeping crime down and citizens happy, etc, but Tourism is basically non-existent still. What am I missing? Please help~!

You need to keep all the economy buildings running with staff inside and sufficient supplies. Empty or not properly running economy buildings do not bring any tourists. The markets and guesthouses all can bring in a large amount of tourists.

Tourists need a place to eat and to sleep. Tourists need to be happy. It's harder to achieve than making the citizens happy. Market, guesthouses, inns, all that stuff need to have room and food for tourists who come eat there.
