Advanced Movement Tech
I'm a huge fan of games that have techniques that aren't explicitly told to the player that allow for more advanced movement. Think Mario Odyssey and Psuedoregalia. It seems this game has a few, so I thought I'd start a thread for people to share their findings.

So far the techniques I've found are:

1. Ride Charge: When standing still, hold the ride button to charge up your speed, similar to sonic's super peel-out.

2. Quick Ride: Do a dash and then immediately hold the ride button to get a huge boost of speed without stopping. I've found that chaining these together can build up some ridiculous momentum.

3. Ledge grab: By throwing your yo-yo above a ledge and holding down the button, your yo-yo will catch onto the ledge and act like a grappling hook.

4. Yo-yo bounce: When grounded, press and hold the yo-yo button to keep it in place. Jump on top of it to get a much higher initial jump. Chaining this into a wall jump and yo-yo swing can get you pretty high up and allow you to skip some areas and get out of bounds.

5. Yo-yo wall bounce: Similar to the yo-yo bounce, jump at a wall and throw and hold the yo-yo button while aiming at the wall, and you will bounce off of it. This can be performed after the grounded yo-yo bounce to get super high up.

These are probably pretty obvious to a lot of people, but I just wanted to get the ball rolling so to speak. I can't wait to see some more tech that people discover, especially tech that may not have been intended by the developers!

you can just wall jump. no need to complicate it with the yoyo.

The Yo-yo wall jump goes higher than the standard wall jump.

You should make a guide about these.

I found out about the ledge grabbing thanks to one of the advanced levels in the orbits.

This move has been frustrating me. I do the dash and hold the ride button directly after, but it doesn't always work every time.

Playing on the Switch but it seems like during the dash you have to spin forward and drop slightly a bit before you hold the ride button. Doing it this way the ride boost worked every time. But pressing it directly after a boost fails most of the time.

I found all of these except the yo-yo bounce, so that's cool.

One nice combination of tech I found that might actually be a bug - when riding the yo-yo off a ledge, you have a second or so to still jump off of it before free fall kicks in (which would give back flip) - this is normal. However, using what you call an "quick ride" off of a ledge, you can get a lot more momentum before the jump to make it great for crossing gaps. What makes it seem like a bug though, is that you must DOUBLE tap the jump button for some reason when you do this - single tap gives you nothing, you just fall off the yo-yo into free fall (which may actually be the bug, now that I think of it).

Anyway, using the above, you can actually cross the entire gap in the beginning of the first level - ride charge off ledge, double tap jump (hold for height), then some combination of back flip and yo-yo swing can put you close enough to the ledge or a ledge grab. It's VERY hard to get perfectly, but an easier thing I've been doing is crossing the gap to the grey area on the left, which you can get pretty consistently.

I made a guide! It has a couple more things I didn't cover here and I will update it as people come forward with new tech!

I just tested it, and it seems like it will work as long as you press it after (even milliseconds after) the dash. The switch having a lower framerate and more controller latency may make it feel like you need to do it a while after dashing, but I've found that you can do it virtually at the same time as the dash and it will work.

I don't think it's a bug. A lot of games implement a sort of grace period when you leave a ledge to make the game feel less punishing. But yeah, you can get some insane distance by building momentum with the yo-yo ride, and then jumping, dashing, and performing a yo-yo swing.

Thanks. I'll be helpful to see the tech in action.

My favorite movement tech:
Jump out of yoyo ride to dash to yoyo swing to yoyo ride allows you to redirect your direction without losing any momentum and is hence even better than the dash to ride combo. Here is a video which shows what you can do if you master this:
