Placing furniture?

How do you place the furniture from your inventory into your apartment? I tried clicking on it, dragging it, etc. Nothing seems to work.

When you click on the item you should get an option to press E to place it. Small items are placed by interacting with the larger furniture item (tables and such).

I have the same issue. I can place certain furniture like the table but not the plant or lamp. Has anyone figured this out?

plant and lamp have to go onto a shelf/counter. interact with one of those kind of pieces and you can place them

And to place furniture, I realized I have to move my mouse to the side of the screen and change the thing to place and THEN select E

I could only place the kitchen counter, nothing else is able to be placed

Picked up my bed, toilet and bath. Now I can't place anything. Lame.
