První hra, u které jsem požádal o vrácení peněz, chtěl jsem ještě něco jako alternativu k Dirt Rally 2.0 a shlédl hodně videí a recenzí, co byly vesměs pozitivní. Ale realita byla velký šok, to, že v závodní hře nejde korektně nastavit ani zkalibrovat pořádně volant (v DR 2.0 krásně funguje soft lock a poměr 1:1 otočení volantu vůči otočení volantu ve hře a dokonce i přímo k danému vozidlu, některé starší modely mají víc než 540°) To zde absolutně nefunguje... Tato hra obecně kvalitou nelze s DR 2.0 vůbec srovnávat a to ani po technické stránce, gafika je opravdu špatná, model poškození skoro neexistující, zvuky divné, fyzikální model podle mě o mnoho horší než Dirt 2.0. Všichni tvrdí, že variace prostředí atd. ale osobně více ocením pěknější grafiku a menší variaci než spoustu lokací ošklivě udělaných.

Hi everyone. So here we are again, some 70-odd hours into another WRC game. That means it is time to post my full thoughts and feelings on yet another Kylotonn WRC game. Indeed, it is the last WRC game. Unfortunately, I don't have a huge amount of kind things to say about it in its current state. I've thought long and hard about how to word this. I've debated pulling my punches or letting it all fly, but after tonight's experience, I simply have to tell it how I see it - this game should not have been released.

So many issues from WRC 9 and WRC 10 remain. For now, I'm just going to list off the positives and negatives, as I did with my WRC 10 review, but I will add some more thoughts after that.

Positives:
- Physics are yet another solid step forward on loose surfaces. The Rally1 cars are a particular highlight.
- Inclusion of the majority of rallies created for WRC 7-10 (except Poland and Australia).
- The stages are, again, absolutely brilliant. The new Sweden stages are the best ever created by KT Racing. So much detail and so incredibly fun to drive.
- Changeable weather is, again, great, but unchanged from previous games.
- The new Leagues system is an outstanding addition. It adds some much needed structure to online competition within the game.
- The new "Realistic Rally Mode" is a fantastic addition to the Clubs mode. It essentially allows you to create much longer rallies than the default 8 stages in the regular "Realistic Mode".
- Some of the really stupid objectives in career mode have been removed.
- Private team career is no longer locked behind another game mode and seems to work fairly smoothly this year.
- Graphically, at least to my eye, it appears to be a step up from WRC 10. It seems as though the shaders in particular have been upgraded. Cars definitely look less toy-like.
- Windscreens appear to be much easier to see out of than previous games. Previously, dirt build-up was crazy and the windscreen seemed tinted. This is no longer the case in almost all of the cars I have driven so far. Only exception is the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo V.

Negatives:
- While the 2nd November patch improved it, throttle input is currently broken on all input devices. In 1st gear, you don't get forward motion until around 55% of the throttle is pressed. The car revs, but doesn't move. It also functions abnormally in higher gears in general. The revs don't seem to rise and fall consistently will throttle position.
- Car sounds are average at best, and utterly woeful at worst. Some sounds are outright broken. The Skoda Fabia Rally2, Subaru Impreza WRC and the Lancia Delta Integrale are coming to mind right now. When you run into the rev limiter in 5th gear in the Fabia, the sound turns truly deafeningly loud. It's not exaggeration to say it actually hurts. The Impreza sounds like it has two different engines in the sound mixing - neither of which are even close to how the car actually sounds. The Lancia hardly makes a sound. You can barely hear it. Honestly, beyond a handful of cars, most sounds are terrible. It might actually be worse than WRC 10 in the sound department.
- Career mode is exactly the same as WRC 8, 9 and 10. As much as the idea is neat, it is very stale now.
- AI is, yet again, woeful. On 150% difficulty, it is massively fast in some countries to being massively slow in others. We're not talking a handful of seconds here and there, we're talking massive chunks.
- Still no difficulty slider in Season mode in between rallies.
- Still no singleplayer custom rally or singleplayer custom championship.
- Still no ability to check overall standings in the middle of a Club event.
- Still no tyre wear carry-over in Club events. Why? This is present in League weekly rallies.
- Default setup for a lot of cars simply can't have been tested as they are mostly awful (softest springs and ARB's). In some situations it is so bad that it results in the car rolling in places it really shouldn't).
- Rally1 cars have centre diffs in the game when they are banned in real regulations.
- All two-wheel drive cars have diffs at both ends of the car and they effect the handling when you tune them.
- There are clearly some performance issues. On daytime stages I get somewhere around 120 FPS (seems to be as high as the game allows). On certain night stages, I can lose 80 FPS. I'm on an OC'd 11600k with a RTX 3070.
- For me, the game without VSync on stutters like hell, even though the FPS is shown as 120 FPS. It is smooth with VSync on.
- While there have been various different co-driver voices over the years, the actual notes don't seem to have been updated at any point for any stage.
- There is a missing distance and square right pace note on one of the new Swedish stages. In low visibility, it is almost impossible to the spot the corner.
- Tarmac feels like it's gone in the DiRT Rally direction of simply being more grippy gravel. The car slides around so much. WRC 10 started this and it's only got worse in Generations. Even after massively stiffening the car up, it still feels very floaty on tarmac.
- There is a small section (the narrow downhill section) on the Spain Riudicanyes stage where the car just stops accelerating. This is in every single car.
- If you shift into gear before hitting the throttle at the stage start, the car will shift back into neutral when you start revving the car.
- Hybrid deployment seems to be buggy. Sometimes it constantly deploys for no real reason.
- The physics of the Lancia Delta Integrale and the Lancia HF 4WD seem to be reversed on gravel. The latter is by far the better handling car.
- The Toyota Corolla WRC handles like a boat on gravel and is completely uncompetitive when compared to the cars it competed with in real life. Performs much better on tarmac.
- The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo V only has 5 gears. The car had 6. Also has a 30:70 torque split by default.
- The Peugeot 206 WRC 2002 has 6 gears. The 2002 car only had 5.
- The 2021 Yaris WRC has 5 gears on loose surfaces but 6 on tarmac.

Honestly, I could keep on going with this list, but I think I've got the point across. Considering this is the last WRC game from Kylotonn and with the knowledge that there will only be limited support, the general state of this game is appalling. Two years in a row the game has released with a myriad of issues. It's such a shame, because there is so much good in this series. A fun and even further improved sim-lite loose surface driving experience, great ideas, features, stages and cars. Yet the lack attention to detail, bugs, glitches and general sloppiness drag it all down YET AGAIN. So many things that were issues in previous games are still not fixed. It is unforgivable to release a rally game that can't even add up stage times or display times correctly in a multiplayer game mode (Clubs) for at least two games in a row. So many of these are issues that have been reported and reported again, and yet they've been ignored.

I want to recommend this game to people. I love the stages and I love the driving, but when I look at the list of negatives that I've come up with just off the top of my head, how can I recommend it in its current state?

Kylotonn - DO NOT leave the game in this state. DO NOT sign-off from the series like this.

EDITED 3rd November to take into account some of the fixes from the 2nd November patch. The rest is still accurate to the best of my knowledge and testing so far.

Popravdě, hodně jsem se obával, že tahle hra bude jenom remasterovaná kopie WRC 10 (takže totální ***) avšak to tak není. Po zvukové i grafické stránce vidím velké zlepšení, ale hlavně přidali i lepší fyziku, takže se to auto chová konečně líp:). Dále co musím zmínit je, že bylo přidáno spoustu nových rychlostních zkoušek (Švédsko, Německo, Nový Zéland,...) a různé blbosti k tomu, aby nás ta hra bavila a to mě osobně baví:). Ale aby to nebylo celé růžové, tak hra má stále jakési chyby, jako je třeba "chromový efekt" v některých stínech a celkem mi tu chybí zlaté střechy u Hyiundaiů, nebo kategorie WRC3. Zkrátka až na některé chyby a nedostatky je pro mě nějakým způsobem ta hra skvělá. Doporučuju.

WRC Generation, oproti WRC 10 - nabízí sice jen pár kosmetických změn, ale kompletní obsah závodů a kosmetických změn, co se týče simulace. Nejlepší WRC za posledních let, který možná bude pokořeno od CODEMASTERS, ale teď je z mého pohledu to nej přístupnější a nejzajímavější WRC na trhu, díky obsahu, pěkným lokacím a přístupnou kariérou. Hru nejvíce shazuje místy archaická grafika a stejná kariéra z předešlého dílu. Nová hybridní kategorie přidávám trochu možností, ale nic zásadního. Přesto na poli závodních rally her je tento díl skvělý za mě 8-9z10 (9 pro ty co vynechali předešlý díl).

No čo povedať WRC Generations je hra ktorá neprekvapí, ale zato vie sklamať. Pre fanušika WRC je tu toho dosť čo kritizovať. Obtiažnosti jednotlivých RZ sú veľmi zle vyvážené. V niektorej dokážete súperom nadeliť cez minútu, zato na iných RZ sa nedá dať čas do TOP-3 a to aj keď idete hranu. Podotýkam že to hrám na 150% čiže najťažšia úroveň. Damage model je katastrofálny, auto môžete vyválať v jarku 5 krát zasebou a veľa sa toho nestane. Vizuálny damage, občas ohnuté dvere maximálne kapota je preč, a to je vlastne len bugnuta vo vnútri motora proste hrôza. Ale to nieje ten najväčší problém... Vačší problém je napr hratelnosť, a to nie len ovládanie auta. V rally jazdci dosť často havarujú, čiže musia vymeškať par RZ. Ale to sa tu nedeje! Teda vám ano ale AI jazdcom nie, a to napriek tomu že ich občas vidíte odstavených v jarku. Ale z ich časom to nič nespravý skončia pred vami. Niektoré veci sú nedotiahnuté, vytvorite si vlastného jazdca a spolujazdca ale skutočnosti len nahradíte inú reálnu dvojicu, žiadny vyber vlastnej prilby vlastného čísla, vlajky... Čo sa tyká ovládateľnosti, príde mi lepšia ako v Dirt Rally 2.0. Ale sem tam sa to auto sprava fakt zvláštne, extrémne ho vynáša von a to aj pri nízkych rýchlostiach. Najlepšie to vidieť pri robení "donut"-ov v Španielsku, vlastne sa to nedá urobiť ako to robia v realite jazdci auto sa proste do driftu nezvrtne... Niečo je ale aj pozitívne, napríklad graficky určite posun oproti WRC10, stále však na tuto dobu trochu grafika mierne zaostáva. Zhrnutie, neviem sa dočkať čo nám prinesú Codemasters-EA tento rok za WRC, ale snáď o poznanie lepšie než tento titul. 6/10

Spousta lokaci a trati v hezky grafice, nektery lokace se hodne povedly treba recko nebo belgie. samozrejme spousta aut a hra pocitove neni tak narocna na hrani jako dirt rally coz je pro me hodne prijemna zmena :) Je tu i hromada offline hernich modu takze za me pecka :)

Po roce jsme se dočkali vydání další oficiální hry z šampionátu FIA World Rally Championship od vývojářského studia KT Racing a vydavatele Nacon. Po WRC 10 série tentokrát upustila od číslování a místo WRC 11 zde máme titul s názvem WRC Generations.

X let stále ta stejná, hrozně vypadající a hrozně (ne)hratelná ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Letos naštěstí naposled od těchto neumětelů.

Edit: Čekal jsem, že se při rozlučce se sérií vývojáři předvedou o hodně víc, hra je rok co rok téměř stejná, má otřesné zvuky, otřesnou fyziku, otřesnou, přepálenou grafiku.

Auta se chovají zvláštně, pneu kvílí jak na asfaltu, ikdyž jedu na šotolině, celkově je zvuk, hlavně motoru velmi špatný.

Really, really, really disappointing.
I am writing this review from a sim racer´s perspective (some of the issues I am mentioning are probably not noticable for casual gamers or people using a gamepad or their keyboards).

WRC Generations physics are awful. That is my conclusion after playing Richard Burns Rally, Dirt Rally, Dirt Rally 2.0, WRC 7, WRC 9 and WRC 10 all more or less extensively. WRC Generations has the weirdest car behavior of all those titles which comes down to a few major issues:
- The "throttle bug". This is an issue comprehensively discussed by the community:

This video examines the issue in all its ugliness. To summarize: There is no torque from the engine below 50-80% throttle input and the rpm are linearly correlated to the the throttle input. What does that mean in nontechnical terms? It means that you can either floor the throttle or not accelerate at all. Why is this bad AND unrealistic? Because in a situation where you havent got a lot of traction like on gravel or in a very slow corner when the aerodynamics are not aiding your grip you NEED to slowly press the throttle pedal to get going without spinning your tyres uncontrollably. With the throttle bug in action you can ever get to a full stop in a hairpin or spin weirdly. It kills the fun completely - at least in more technical stages which I like more than flat out stages. The worst part of all of this is that the devs are aknowledging the issue. They claim the throttle works as intended and is an accurate representation of real rally driving. The former may me be true, the latter certainly not. Consult a source of your liking: EVERY other sim racing game, a real road car, a real rally car, onboard videos of WRC with telemetry, your common sense, an engineering textbook or study engineering yourself. You will notice that the behavior of the throttle in WRC Generations is further off reality than your most disturbing dreams.

- The behavior of the cars´ suspension is also weird but I am kind of lacking the words to adequately describe how it feels. It somewhat feels like the force of gravity is constantly changing in this game.

- To set up the cars is a horrible experience. Compare it to Richard Burns Rally or even Dirt Rally 2.0. In both games you operate with real technical units and you have got an intuitive idea of how to set up the car. It is easy to stiffen or soften your suspension to the desired degree because the game tells you the actual stiffness of the springs for example using units such as kN/m. In WRC Generations you have A) less options to setup the car B) only a slider with arbitrary numbers instead of actual physical values. For example: Damper Rebound 0-10, whatever that means. You can mess around with all those setup parameters but at least for me it was VERY difficult to get the desired effects. I think that is due to the fact that sometimes the scale of the parameter is inverted. To give you a made up but easy to understand example: It feels like 0 is the harder spring rate while 10 is the softes spring rate which is counterintuitive. Apart from that I think that many of the setup parameters are not doing what they are intended to do.

- The handbrake behavior is also a mess. A handbrake locks the rear wheels of a real car thereby reducing their traction enabling you to get around tight turns like hairpins. The faster you go the more effect the handbrake should have. In this game however it feels like pulling the handbrake does not reduce traction on the rear in a controlled manner, instead it feels like somewhat is hitting the car hard on the rear pushing it forward. That makes handbrake turns really unpredictable. Due to the throttle bug they are even harder to drive a the exit.

- The force feedback is extremely unsatisfying. It feels like I am driving in mud all the time. I have spent several hours changing the FFB options but couldnt get it to feel good.

- I dont know why but my post processing graphics settings get reset everytime I restart the game. Other users have got the same problem and I havent found a fix yet (and never will because I am abandoning this game in its disasterous state just like the devs).

- Since WRC 10 the texts in the menu have been translated plainly wrong. In the german version "steer right" and "steer left" are called "nach rechts lenken" und "nach links rechten". The latter actually means "to righten left" which is obviously wrong. This is just one example of many.

- The car sounds... You are obviously driving a very weird washing machine/blender-hybrid.

- The volume of the engine gets lowered whenever the codriver calls a pacenote. This is very annoying.
