Hard vs. soft tyres

It's a bit weired with gravel tyres in this game. Hard has less grip than soft but hard should get less tyre wear so they should last longer. The grip difference I can feel but the wear? I drove shakedown + two stages with crossed tyres, two hard + two soft. This was the result:

Nearly the same wear, on the front the soft tyre has less! wear than the hard one. So why should I use hard tyres?

Probably another bug. Currently there is no reason to pick hard anyway. I never run out of soft tires.
