I have just reinstalled the game but with no improvement. Again I have to unplug the wheel before restart and set it up. If the delete data worked for you I will try it too.
For Logitech or Thrustmaster steering wheels, you can force WRC Generations to use DirectInput, bypassing manufacturer's specific API:
a. In the Menu: Option -> Gameplay -> Configure -> Enable Logitech Wheel API or Enable Thrustmaster Wheel API
b. In the %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\WRCG\UserSettings.cfg file by settings Engine.Input.EnableTMSDK = 0, Engine.Input.EnableLogiSDK = 0
Normally, I never disconnect my devices. However, WRSG crashes at start if the devices are connected. That's why I wondered. For the time being, I don't ever close the game or shut down the PC. I just put it to sleep.
Now I am following this procedure: I unplug the wheel and leave the shifter and handbrake connected while starting the game. When the game is up and running, I connect the wheel and then follow a dosen steps to get it all working. Once I got used to it, the whole procedure takes about 5 minutes.
Y-day, instead of closing the game and shutting down PC, I put it into Sleep mode. It worked fine. After waking PC up. my WRCG was working with all the controllers working fine. That worked 3-4 times. the 5th time I put it to sleep, it restarted on its own after a short time. Since then, my PC would not sleep any more. So now I am following the procedure described above.
While waiting for a patch, we recommend that you connect your wheel after launching the game.
For Thrustmaster steering wheels :
We know of a crash issue at game’s launch on Thrustmaster wheels and are working on a fix.
Please follow the below suggested steps first to see if it helps:
1. Always make sure driver and firmware are up to date: https://support.thrustmaster.com
2. Try another USB port, and by preference one at the back of the PC on the motherboard.
3. Try to disable Steam Input (in the Steam library, right click on the game, properties, then controller and disable Steam input)
4. You can force WRCG to use DirectInput, bypassing manufacturer's specific API:
a. In the Menu : Option , Gameplay, Configure, Enable
Thrustmaster Wheel API
b. In the %USERPROFILE%\Documents\MyGames\WRCG\UserSettings.cfg file by
settings Engine.Input.EnableTMSDK = 0
Also, may you please send us your DXDiag.txt and WRC.logs at the following email adress: wrcthegame@bigben.fr , so that we can have a better understanding of the issue? Thanks.
