Language changed to Chinese from English on its own. Unplayable as is

No idea why, the game started on its own in Chinese, a language I don't have the privilege to speak. I can't play the game until it's back to English I'm afraid.
Suggestions how to change back??

PS. Tried in Steam menu game properties but the the game still shows in English there.

Language is the first option selected when you open the menu (second pick on the main is the options menu). Just switch back to English from there.
