You are correct. This whole censorship of certain thing or destruction of localization comes from Western feel good politics that wanna indoctrinate and force this woke mantra.
I'm kinda curious to know, who did this games localizations? I'm suspecting that women that goes by the name Meru chan, looks just as garbage as her other works and seeing as she admitted to hating th school scenes and wanting Japanese develops to stop using that setting.

These localizers and translators also love puishing their mentally insane gender politics in anime. Hence the Seven seas debacle with the changing of a cross-dresser to a transgender, because the translator wanted to play gender politics. not to mention the other times Seven Seas censored their novels because the staff were woke morons that got triggered by it.
You're talking about ' i think i turned my childhood friend into a girl', they butchered that story so bad the rights holders got involved directly.
hopefully we see a simular outcome here.. Doubtful though...
