How market value currently works:
It calculates different factors like strength of the player, age, talent, skills, contract length, injury proneness and some other factors.
In the end, there will always be some kind of formula, to determine the market value of every player in every league and every single team.
If you want a specific player, some clubs ask the double value or more.
It is also a way to make the game not all too easy, i think.
Some players you get for their current value thou, but not everyone.
In my opinion the price they ask is a good mechanic, it makes the game harder.
And we see it in reality sometimes too, that a player is sold for much more than "valued" when i look at some of the transfer values of players from english clubs (Caicedo, Maguire, Fofana, Cucurella, ... ).
When i want to sell a player for example, it already reduces the price. Makes sense to me.
And if some club tries to buy my player, they will try to make a steal. Makes sense to me too.
Mb transfer value of some players feels low/high because in game they are not what they are in real life. Default pricing seems ok.
When i`m trying to sell player i just put him on transfer list and wait, usually his gone in 1year for 50%-90% of his value depending on quality of player. I think its ok.
I had offers for my players for 1,5x of value aswell, and many offers where i would just laugh. But for me that is totally fine, cause i don’t feel offended of a low asking price.
An AI club wants to strike a good deal. They will try with other teams to and might be successful, if they need quick cash.
But again. It is 2 different people looking at the same thing and both come do a diffferent conclusion.
What should the mechanic be in the game?
(this would be my answer: if you can buy all players for market value, then this game would be nothing but a tycoon clicker game, where you just climb up the latter to get to the next milestone, with no risks and consideration of the next step.)
Offers of 1,5x of value of any of my players I have yet to see, and I have between my 2 saves played 5 seasons all in all.
And that is what I ment with deadline day being a joke. AI will come in for my players, not listed players, many times my best squad players, and offer 0,8x of their value. that is pretty far from 1,5x wouldnt you say? These offers are not even remotedly interesting and pretty far from me thinking "okey, why not, good money". Havent had one single offer of that sort.
To be fair I did see lower values offered, but ONLY those times that AI actually offered me a player. So, imho, transfers are a bit skewed in AIs favor.
Its for the benefit of challenge, in my opinion.
I wouldn’t want to change it, if i could. It would be too easy. :-)
p,s, i still wont sell star players ofc, ai will buy my second rated players regularly.
Cardiff just came in with an offer, 420k. that is exactly 42% of the value. This is what I mean and call a joke.
Without even having to laugh. :-|
that's why i make tests games, to see how the thing works.
here, i play with easy negociations, theey should be as easy as in pricing and in club will to sell and player to accept.
argument "if you ask for a player the team is not willing to sell, they will ask for more" is perfectly accurate, but, IMO, price should be more accurate according to the difficulty you set at start.
on the other hand, it is normal that some teams offer large amounts of money for young players that have high talent and allready good "realo level" and perks. in the real world, famous club frequently buy young talents at very high prices.
