Remote Play Together doesn't work

Tried getting Remote Play Together to work earlier with a friend and no matter which one of us was hosting or what input we were trying to use, the player who joined was unable to move at all.

Would really appreciate this being fixed so I can play co-op through remote play

The lack of control options in the menu is also frustrating.

did you try parsec? its always way better for local games than steam play together.

I had a similar issue! I couldn't even get my friend to join at all because the remote play option wasn't even there to begin with!! I'm very disappointed with how difficult it is to play with other people.

We're really sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with Steam's Remote Play Together feature. As we do not own this feature we are unfortunately unable to address and improve on it, but we are looking into if there is anything we are able to tweak on our end to make it smoother.

I think the main issue is coming from the fact that co-op players are supposed to use 1 controller or 1 keyboard between themselves. If you could add more control options and let co-op players use separate input devices I think that would help

Late to the party but you can get this to work by allowing Steam overlay in your settings. Relaunch and invite your pal again and it will work.
