Are there various levels of difficulty?

in other words difficulty settings? Such as Recruit, Regular, Harneded, Veteran and so on

So I can focus on the story first then come back for some fun or hard Steam achievements

There is 2 sets of difficulty. And for first run better to use default

Are puzzles easy on default?

There is a lot of puzzles, some of them are easier , but some of them do not depends on difficulty. But i am sure you will handle all of them without any troubles.
