Low relation bonus from gifts

Any idea why I get so few relationship points from gifts?

I remember it to be much higher.
What affects the relationship points received from gifts?

Ok, to answer myself. Fame does affect gifting.
So far, it seems that the various NPCs are differently affected by it.

if you max out someone's relationship to you, they give you +bonus to your BENE stat. If your BENE stat is maxed out, it gives a large bonus to relationship to people you meet.

other than that, there's items that increase the relationship gained when gift giving.

Do you have Hong Xiaoqi in your party?

He could be the one causing this due to his armour. Either remove him from your party or give him a better armour.
