Anything that says 'After consumption, it will cause Dead by poison'.
Most (all, maybe) are gatherable Legendary plants.
Matters of the Sect quest is finished though, I thought I could leave after I finished dealing with his sect matters.
And he's nowhere physically in the game so I cannot talk to him, cannot even spend the sect contribution points.
This old man didnt seem to exist in EA iirc or cmiiw.
I read that the game locks one playthru to one sect or cmiiw ? I played EA and picked the thief sect at that time, but I think I could leave the sect at that time and joined the Shaolin iirc.
All the stuff you did was the Optional Ambition stuff. None of that progresses the Old Man's story.
The Matters of the Sect are all optional. The Old Man's story-line is actually called the "Main Story"
The Number One in the World Ambition leads to the Peak of Jianghu ending
The Unify the Martial World Ambition leads to the Jianghu Master or Conqueror endings
And Protect the Homeland Ambition leads to the Path of Loyalty ending.
All 3 can be done outside the Old Man's sect and has special achievements for getting them while staying in the Old Man's sect. You can do all 3 at once, the ambition only gives you a guide-line on how to be strong enough to get the ending and how to get it.
If you want to leave the Old Man Sect, progress his story until you both head back to the Nameless Village.
The Old Man's story goes as follows:
Beat the Bandit Camp -> Visit Old Friends in Chuxiang City (Meet General Lu) -> Fame 4, Resolve the 3 Troubles caused by the 9 Factions (Each is their own separate quest) -> Fame 5, Get answers at the Confucius Temple
Once you finish the level 30 event fight at Confucius Temple, you will be told to head back to the Nameless Village. There the Old Man opens his Sect Store and you can ask to leave.
You are only locked into the Old Man's sect if you fully finish his story-line and become the head of the new sect. There is no story afterwards but there is no way to leave his new sect.
I see, I have the Number One in the World quest, seems like it's from the old man's question. How do I get the other 2 ambitions ?
I see, I just got a letter from a bird when visiting Ye batallion, and the letter mentions Nine Factions sect, it gives a Matters of the Sect quest again called "Trouble from the Nine Factions Sect" , seems like I'm pretty close to triggering it.
Does that apply to other sects because I read someone's kinda saying one playthru one sect.
Like I said prior, this won't progress the Old Man's quest but will give you one of his specific achievements.
You can only pick an Ambition when you first join the Old Man. However if you know how, you can get the other 2 on the same run, you just won't get a quest log for it.
That was unrelated to the Ye family battalion. That quest activated the moment you got the letter. You got the letter 1 day after you got Fame 4 and finished the quest to unlock your Homestead.
You need to go to the 3 major cities and resolve the problems that occur there.
Chuxiang: Rumors about the 3 Religions Sects
Lin'an: Well is being poisoned
Daliang: Shopkeepers are kidnapped.
Go to each city's Inn during the day to hear the initial rumors and start the quest.
On a side note, following the Ye Family Battalion story line to the end will get you the Path of Loyalty ending, one of the ambitions.
No, the Old Man Sect is the only one who locks you in at the end.
You cannot complete the 3 Religions Sects and Old Man Sect in a single run because they all share the same 3rd story quest in the Ice Prison.
The 3 Religion Sects are:
Taoist Sect, Shifa Temple, and Confucius Temple
Ok thx for the info.
One more thing, I read we can carry over our progress and stuffs to start anew (like New Game +) , what's the condition and what exactly will be carried over ? I read I have to max all skills for each to be carried over or cmiiw.
There's a bunch of things that carry over in different ways:
- When you achieve a true ending, your maxed skills get saved and they'll always start maxed from then on.
- I'm not 100% sure, but I think the recipes you know also get saved only when you get a true ending.
- In your Homestead you can save techniques in the steles room and equipment in the treasury. This doesn't depend on getting an ending and is purely save-dependant (And since you're in the Old Man sect, you probably will want to save the legendary external and internal he gives you).
- Achievements: depending on how many you get you can start a game with more stats, traits and items - and depending on which you get you unlock different traits or items to start with. This also doesn't require getting a true ending.
So there are a few ways things get carried over to other saves/runs
A true ending has a stamp when looking at the endings in Lore. These are: Jianghu Master, Jianghu Conqueror, Peak of Jianghu, Path of Loyalty, 9 Factions Sect Master, Foreign Duke, Wandering the World, and Dominating the World (AKA Emperor Ending).
Recipes are also saved in the same way.
Once you achieve a True ending, the game takes a Snapshot of your current maxed out skills and recipes. The game will use your latest snapshot and stamp those onto any new character you create.
If you max out a skill after getting a true ending, it will not be recorded until you get another true ending on that run.
Thank you both so much for those helpful writeups!
