How do I rescue people at Yunlin Temple?

I'm stuck on the old man sect quest. It says I need to "Go to Yun'an City Temple to save people," but I go there and nothing happens.

The only guide I can find says the next step is "Rescue Old Demon (Lao Motou/Chu Kuangsheng)" but I don't know who this is. I've been all around the temple, and everywhere else nearby, and can't find anything at all. It's getting really annoying, finishing the old man's quest is the only thing I still need to do this run before I can start a new one and it's driving me crazy

also, supposedly this is how I unlock the ice prison? but I can't find the ice prison

You have to include the Old Man in your party for that.

Old man has to be in your party. Then, click on or go near the pagoda in the Yun Lin Temple.

Dudes, sorry for necro bumping, but what do I do after? Old man says something among the lines "talk to another martial artists" and then nothing, no quest, no dialog option, I can just tell him to wait for me at nameless village, but nothing else. What am I missing?

You progress the main story until you are told about the 9 Factions Sect base, which is a part of the Main Story.
Which happens after you finish all of Marshal Ye's court trial and get justice for him.
