Flame sect and cold skin gang questions

So i havent touched this game in a few months and saw that a new region with these dudes is in the game. So i was wondering what do they tech skills for, aka spear, palm you get the idea, also are they a thing you join or more like melody house and Jiuli Tribe where you pick a side and do quests for them?.

Technically you can join the Holy Flame Sect but they are just like the Melody House. You follow their quests until the end, there is no sect contribution. Cold Skin Gang gives you some legendary blade manuals and very good inner. Holy Flame Sect gives you palm manuals.
