What triggers Legendary Auction event at Night Demon Auction?

Is anyone aware of what triggers this event? Is it MC's level, fame, wealth or the number of days that have passed?

What's special about it?

It's a once-per-game event where the night demon auction sells legendary weapons, armor, and skill books (eg +15 blade if >150 and <200). The item pool contains a legendary version of every weapon type, so it's really useful if you don't already have a good weapon.

Keep in mind, all legendary weapons/armors on the auction have their "sub stats" in lower range(for ex, if range is 15-30, you will have something like ~17), so It's not really that great.

Pretty sure it is fame plus certain fame events done don't recall it ever happening before the Emperor quest is done at the very least but I have always had it happen before/when the Buddha event happens.

Does it sell at least some of the otherwise unobtainable (at least to my understanding) manuals, like those used by Lao? (I think he had some unobtainable manuals, right? Or was it just his ultimate move?)

It doesn't sell skill or inner manuals (that I am aware of), but can otherwise get legendary armour n weapons relatively early in the game.

I beg to differ. Even with the lower sub-stat, the equipment is at least twice as effective the equivalent Epic gear in terms of the attack/defence stats and with more special effects. The legendary spear I bought in my current run has more than twice the attack stat as the Pear Blossom spear and two more effects.

Sure, it is not as good as the Slipstream I received in the previous run, but I also bought this at day 40-ish. I know I can use Homestead as a never ending supply of legendaries but if I decided to "limit" myself by not abusing its feature too much or at all, Night Demon Auction legendaries is the best source of early legendary gear.

The Legendary Auction happens once you finish the 3 Nine Factions Sect events that happen in the 3 Cities once you reach 4 Fame. You fight the same bosses there after the auction.

Thanks for this. This will make a fair bit of difference for my next run. My first time I had the auction even, I had plenty of money but got my ass kicked. This run, I (just) managed to defeat them but didn't quite have the money lol
