Hero's Adventure is good too n its more of a sandbox. You get to join different sects/ factions. In Wandering Sword, you can only join a single faction pre-determined by the story script. However, you still get fair bit of side quests that you can do them in any order.
Both have a fair bit of grind, though I find the grind here to be worse at the beginning. There are certain features which makes subsequent playthroughs of Hero's a lot less grindy.
I'd say get both as they are both priced well under most games.
Wandering Sword may have better main plot, but it's pretty much restricts you to that plot and variations inside it is pretty minor. There is more variations in side quest, but not really that much. You can't even choice which sect you want to be.
It's grind is also more mindless. It may have some Quality of Life features that Hero's Adventure lack, at least for now, but you unlikely to want to play it more than once.
Hero's Adventure is many plots tied together and affecting each other, it's also designed for you to play multiple times with progression between games, so you will keep returning to this game.
Depsite yet to be finished, Hero's Adventure offers more content than Wandering Sword, much more freedom and much more consequences of your decisions. Even older Hulao games can't compare with Hero's Adventure in amount of freedom of choice.
If you can only get one then Hero's Adventure for sure. More content, more playtime, for cheaper price. Wandering Sword has upcoming updates though and I suggest you wait for that before buying (if you plan to also get it).
