Beast language question

How does it work, im at intermediate beast taming but i still get told that i dont know theirs by certain animals like stray dogs or the white wolf

Only specific animals can be tamed, and you need to feed already tamed animals to increase experience and level

So im to assume if its a tamable animal but i dont know its language i just need to level up taming more?

At the beginning, the red wild boar and rooster were the best feeding targets, and the level requirements for taming them were very low
