Wondering how to go on : Lvl 50 - "Trouble from the 9 factions" (Spoiler ahead)

Hello,

First playthrough ( relatively blind, i had a look for some things that i missed such as where to get beast taming)
I accepted the old lecher offer.
I got to level 50 and fame 6 (teams around lvl 45-50)
I was told to solve the trouble from the 9 factions in the 3 cities.

THe east city was ok as i solved the issue without fighting.
In the two others, i found the source from the problems, but it triggered a fight in both cases with a lvl "boss" plus his henchmen.
And the boss alone kills everyone, including the old lecher if he came.

Not sure if i should go try or go look for other quests.
Any suggestions to get stronger ?




Some additional info:

I got a message about the emperor and a "new region" (no idea) where it is.
I cannot finish the escort quest line because I got killed by the leaders..
The fight to save the forest girl from the general (East region) is probably still too hard

I did not join the army.
It seems i cannot join any sect (i assume because i am considered in the old man sect)
I got the purple fist skill from the old man, got a purple and gold passive skill from gifting + the casino event.
I got a purple spear and blue spear skill (could not learn a purple one from the "request" menu because "I am not of the same sect")

EDIT : just managed to win the west town fight with a new member. I will try the last town.

EDIT 2 : ok, by recruiting higher level character, i did it too for the north town

What difficulty are you playing at? Recruiting higher level characters help a lot. The masked detective from the Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Daliang butcher are good recruits. So is the Herbal Sect leader.

Spoiler ahead: Now that you have done all three Nine Factions Sect problems You should be getting an invitation to a special Night Demon auction. It is a great tho expensive way to buying some early legendary tier items. However, be prepared for a big fight after the auction

You will fight several (I think 5 or 6) of the Nine Factions heroes, including the three you defeated during the quests. The fight will be tough if you're not prepared.

Zhang Lata is OP, with Forest and Mountain passive trees almost fully unlocked. He soloed my treasure night auction extermination lol.

I know a lot of people love him but somehow, prob due to playstyle, he never work out for me. I much prefer Pao Chunqiu (the butcher) and Qiu Zhimo (the masked detectives) as my heavy hitters n Ye Yun... How could I have forgotten Ye Yun. That guy rocks.

It should be stated in your Journal section. I believe you have to go into the inn to know that several shop keepers of the city are missing (try talking to all the NPCs). Then you have to talk to the patrolling sheriffs, ask them all the questions available. Then you will need to locate the building, which is in the unnamed building at northern most of the map, between the Baoguo Temple and the Tower of Prosperity.

Be prepared, as the fight can be difficult, because you are supposed to protect all the shopkeepers. The shopkeepers have the tendency to rush the boss, and the boss is strong enough to kill the shopkeepers. Edit: If the shopkeepers die in the fight, they're gone for good. If they survive, they would return to their shops.

If you are a completionist and would like to get as much quests as possible, there is a conflicting quest with this quest. The begger standing in front of the inn is the boss responsible for the kidnapping. You can pay him 1k guan for ten times (with the total of 10k guan), he will initiate a conversation. Defeating him will get you a purple tier staff. However, if you have Hong Xiaoqi, the begger from the Nameless Village, in your party, he will recognized Hong and have a fight with Hong instead. Hong Xiaoqi in my party won by being around Lv60+ when he fought the beggar boss. Hong would learn a blue-tier ultimate move by winning the fight. Further dialogue would also reveal that Hong is potentially his long lost son .

In general, when you meet a fight that destroys you, or you can't pass, it's a sign you need to do something else, and go back to getting stronger. This means:

-Working on your stats, in particular strength and dex, as they are easier to work with, but don't neglect boosting your con with food, and intelligence for scaling using praying.
-Getting good sutras and learning potent internals and externals. The gap between blue and purple, and purple and orange is huge.
-Proper allocation of your passives, and playing around them.
-Gear, in particular gear helping how your characters play.
-And lastly, knowing your characters, their traits, their passives and their externals and making the most out of them to do damage while avoiding retribution.

Levels help, but all this is in general more important than levels. I would say it's more important to always be punching above your level so you can stay ahead of the curve.
