Can't recruit Ling Mengdie

I started Ling Hongxuan quest and brought over the herbology doctor to cure his sister, however I was still not allowed to see her, hongxuan just mentions he might need my help in the future. I can invite hongxuan into my party but there's no dialogue option and nothing I try opens the door to the room where his sister is. According to the guides I followed I should have met his sisters by now, is this path bugged?

I am NOT part of the confucius temple sect and cannot join them (currently doing old man sect).

Did you fight with her brother? I also face this issue.
Checked from the internet. You should ignore her brother from blocking the door, and fight with him.
If you obey his blocking and be friend with him, then you can't meet Ling Mengdie anymore.

It is a stupid trap from this game, the guideline in the game is telling you should make friend further than enemy....

I didn't fight in front of the door to her room no, might have been the issue. This is extremely weird because there's an entire quest where you bring the herbology leader to cure his sister but if you do that you end up unable to actually cure her, this feels like a bug.

The english guides should also be updated because as it is they imply that this is an alternative option, when in fact it locks you out of recruiting her.

you will need Qu Wangyou on your team, gift her bro (or she will say she does trust you to cure) to a certain level (can't remember exactly how much but no need to reach 100).

pro tip - remove all your gears and equipments before triggering the convo as Qu will tell you the cost of curing her comes with a 15% permenant deduction of your health upper limit.

Also got F'ed by this... I already cured (?) her and recruited her brother and the door is still close ;/ Man... this makes no sense...
