Can we load soil onto sloops?

I'd like to set up lime and pepper farms on the island, but I seem unable to load soil into a sloop. Is this by design, or am I experiencing a bug? Thanks.

Edit: I guess I could ask the same about animals. Can I ship cows to the island, monkeys to the mainland, etc?

Was going to try out my sloop ' voyage back ' to main, in a bit,
tested the Monkeys, refused to get on board. ( maybe due to them being Helpers )
Loaded some crops instead to plant in the mainland.

Might update the ' return trip ' if info not filled by then.

I just discovered the Idea to make a composter, which allows you to turn five food into one soil. So island farms are possible, but not via shipping.

You were able to transport them prior to V1.1.3 by stacking them under a material(grey) card.
But they fixed it so you cannot.
Apparently it is because soil(black cards) is considered as a building, and you cannot carry a building on a sail.

Shipping two dead people should work.

That makes a graveyard, which contains soil. Or you can unlock and use a composter.

Holding a few monkeys in a pen also works as that gives you tons of poo.
