DLC 2000: Pollution.
I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I'm missing something.

On my two last games I had;
- 14 landfills
- 1 recycling centre
- 6 septic tanks

- 12 landfills
- 2 recycling centres
- 4 septic tanks

However the pollution seems to favour only a few landfills & the recycling centre.

This leads to the select landfills having 20+ pollution & others having 0-4 pollution at any time, and the end of the moon me losing increasing amounts of well-being.

From my understanding they gather pollution no matter where on the board it is. However I have tried moving the landfills directly to the sources to "encourage" them to share the load however this has not helped.

Additionally, the gravel output from the Nuclear Power Plants ignores any storage containers or pre-existing stacks, creating a mess of the board.

I've lost a few games due to this and I'm unsure how to combat it. Any ideas? Would be really grateful! :gk_heart:

Pollution is partly bugged, it is being fixed according to the dev. No idea how to fix the pollution itself right now. However, you can combat the unhappiness it generates by creating more happiness, e.g. artworks.

As regards the gravel then use the crossroad filter to send it to a storage building.

P.S. You can also reduce the pollution by generating energy from pollution free sources * wind, solar, water(

maybe they don't encourage to use nuclear energy in this game

It definitely seems bugged / not balanced at all. Nuclear power plants are essentially unusable because they generates 10 pollution to a single landfill or recycling center in one shot and if it happens to hit you within the last 30-60 seconds of the moon, you're guaranteed to lose wellbeing. The distribution between landfills is also bugged. I went from generating +6 wellbeing per moon to losing 2-6 simply because I moved my landfills in an attempt to reorganize things. After that I couldn't find a position that led polution evenly distributing again at which point I got frustrated and stopped play

After much trial and error, I figured out that pollution will evenly distribute across your landfills / recycling centers as long as their cycles are staggered. For example, if you have 4 oil power plants that all finish at the same time, they will all send their pollution to the same landfill. If they're staggered, they seem to distribute their pollution evenly across the available landfills

Thank you all for you replies! Its always at the nuclear power stations point.

I've experimented and created landfills surrounding them in a L shape dedicated to each source (iron smelter / copper smelter / oil rig / nuclear) they all get their own L or even two.

However this hasn't helped much with the Nuclear phase.

Currently on the attempt I have I only have 1 Nuclear Power Station, and only two oil rigs (one power & one plastic). Rest of my town is covered by wind turbines / solar panels / water wheels. The oil rigs & smelters are behaving just fine - and these were created (inc. oil rigs) at different times and have different "charge" timers.

Its the Nuclear which seems to target the strangest I watched it like a hawk lol to see pollution jump from a Nuclear Power Station 9 spaces (view grid using E) to a full landfill while the landfill 3 spaces away is at 0. I'm not sure if the creation time is the issue.

A little late to the party, I've only just downloaded the DLC last night. I found that running oil off of separate wind farms instead of off of each other works well for separating cycles of pollution. I'm not sure about nuclear stuff though.
