This is for the end-game. Not for mid. The more you advance, the more automation options you have. With the ultimate options arriving in the end-game. That's all. You have pretty much finished the game by then.
I have abundant resources, it's impossible to ever lose now, might as well give me resource magnets under stoves to automate (simple) food production.
Resource magnets cost gold, to get gold you need to go to the island, and even then you need quite some time to set it up. This means you have already survived a ton of stuff. Boss 1, maybe even the witch, pirates, tamed monkeys, survived on fish enough time to be familiar with it, all the harshness is gone.
But cranes are almost literally useless, the only way to use them is to automate breeding and butchery (which is not that good as a constant source of food xD), since their constant transfer (even if the recipient is unable to get what they're transferring) just makes them way too hard to work with. Practically useless. Not only that, but if they move out of position (and yes, glued items DO move out of position) they will start transferring random stuff to random places (wherever they end up in) so it's more hassle than usefulness.
I ended up using an exploit that allows you to do exactly what I'm proposing, and the game is so much more fun!! So why not include it in the main game as part of its normal mechanics, I've no idea. Again, I'm talking about end-game.
