Poison doesn't get cured on its own?

I'm not sure if this is a new feature in the update or a bug. I have a guy that gets poisoned out of the blue every now and then. There are no monsters. He's just standing there getting poisoned on his own. Can someone confirm if this is a bug or does poison lasts indefinitely until it's cured. I remember that it's supposed to disappear on its own.

Btw, this is just on the mainland. I haven't opened up any places, specially the island, so I can't get the cure for poison yet.

I had this Problem yesterday too. Guy get poisoned and died after 3 Moons.

That's strange. Mine was poisoned but he was still able to survive with the health they gain every moon after they eat. Anyway, I got him cured with charcoal. So yeah, poison probably doesn't get cured on its own.

So it's a bug then? I thought it was a new feature. I don't know exactly. The first instance I realized my guy was poisoned was from the portal waves. I gained a lot of blowpipes during those times so I reckon he got it from those enemies. He was also hanging out on my exploration team in between waves. I thought he was just getting poisoned again and again from some enemies that come out from there, and also from the armory packs. It took me a while to realize that he was just getting poisoned on his own. I made him my lumberjack and he was still getting poisoned even without participating in any fights. It's not that serious though compared to that other guy who commented. Mine survived.

Poison should stick around until you cure, so if you didn't cure it will stay with the villager.
