Combat difficulty
I feel like the combat update is a bit too much in terms of difficulty. I'm bringing the best stuff I can to the witch fight and losing everything. I only have this and the final boss to finish and the constant rebuilding of my villagers and items is really boring. The mass stun/attack that the bosses have is a serious pain for big teams too. I liked the game because it was comfy but I'm no longer comfy.

Also the witch team fully heals? I assumed I was supposed to throw people at it and eventually get them. Am I missing something? I don't see how I can be any stronger.

The best body gear beside boss item is golden chestplate(item level 9, +3 defense and stun effect), the best headgear beside boss item is skull helmet(drop from skeleton, item level 11, +5 max hp, +2 damage, +2 defense,10% life drain).
Friendly pirate is very powerful, with hammer+pirate hat+golden chestplate they can reach 50% stun chance, having two of them will let you almost stun lock a single enemy
My team was 2 stun build pirate, 1 melee militia(with kraken tooth), 2 ninja(using shooting star) and 2 mage(with magic tome), everyone is equipped with skull helmet and golden chectplate(except pirate).
Remember changing villagers' position to prevent being effectively attacked by enemies.
I have the best gear (or had) but I didn't think about pirates. I'll give that a try.
+1, pulling a seagull out of a 3shell pack is almost a certain death in the early island phase with a single villager
i send a ninja to the island. Makes short work of anything you are likely to see at the start of the island packs.
